Vatican in Rome — FAQ
Do I need to book Vatican tickets in advance?
Yes — the Vatican Museums use timed entry and the queue can wrap around the walls. Booking ahead on Excurgo guarantees your slot and lets you skip the ticket line.
Is the Sistine Chapel included in the Vatican Museums ticket?
Yes — the Sistine Chapel sits at the end of the Vatican Museums route and is included in standard entry. Guided tours lead you straight there and explain the frescoes before you arrive.
Can I visit St Peter's Basilica with a Vatican tour?
Many tours add St Peter's Basilica via the internal route from the Sistine Chapel, skipping the security queue in the square. The basilica itself is free, but a guided visit or dome climb saves time and adds context.
