Your journey begins in the heart of Vatican City, the smallest country in the world and the spiritual center of over a billion Catholics. As you gather with your small group of no more than 10 guests, your expert guide will introduce you to this remarkable sovereign state, its history, its role as the residence of the Pope, and its global religious and cultural significance. Standing at the threshold of centuries of art and faith, you’ll begin to understand why this tiny city holds such immense influence.
With reserved access, step inside one of the most extraordinary art collections ever assembled. The Vatican Museums are not simply galleries, they are a journey through time. Built and expanded by successive Popes, the complex houses treasures from ancient Rome, the Renaissance, and beyond. Thanks to your small group size, you’ll be able to follow your guide comfortably, hear detailed explanations, and engage with questions as you move through the highlights. Rather than feeling overwhelmed by the scale of the Museums, your experience is carefully curated, focusing on the masterpieces and stories that bring the Vatican’s history to life.
Designed by Renaissance architect Donato Bramante, this peaceful courtyard blends classical harmony with open sky. Its name comes from the monumental ancient bronze pinecone sculpture that stands proudly at one end — a symbol of regeneration and eternity. In this serene setting, away from the busier galleries, your guide will share insights into the architectural evolution of the Vatican and the symbolism hidden within its spaces.
At the center of the courtyard stands a striking contrast to its classical surroundings: Sphere Within a Sphere by Arnaldo Pomodoro. This modern bronze sculpture, fractured to reveal intricate inner layers, represents complexity, fragility, and the tension between appearance and reality. Its presence within the Vatican creates a fascinating dialogue between past and present, a reminder that even here, tradition and modern thought coexist. Your guide will help you uncover the meaning behind this powerful and unexpected work.
Prepare to be amazed as you step into one of the most visually stunning corridors in the world. Stretching over 120 meters, the Gallery of the Maps is lined with vibrant 16th-century frescoed maps of Italy, commissioned by Pope Gregory XIII. Each region is depicted in extraordinary detail, celebrating both geography and papal authority. As you walk beneath the magnificently decorated ceiling, your guide will point out hidden details and explain how these maps were once cutting-edge representations of the known world, blending science, politics, and art into one breathtaking gallery.
The highlight of the Vatican Museums is the Sistine Chapel, the Pope’s private chapel and the site of the Papal Conclave. Before entering, your guide will provide context and explanation, as speaking is not permitted inside. Inside, admire: - Michelangelo’s ceiling fresco, including The Creation of Adam - The Last Judgment behind the altar - Renaissance frescoes by Botticelli, Perugino, and other masters This sacred space remains one of the greatest artistic achievements in history.
Through a dedicated access, step into the grandeur of St. Peter's Basilica, an architectural marvel that stands as the epitome of spiritual and artistic excellence. Marvel at Michelangelo's iconic Pieta, gaze up at the breathtaking dome, and absorb the sacred atmosphere. The heart of Vatican City, this basilica offers a profound encounter with history, faith, and awe-inspiring beauty. Embark on a journey through the largest church in the world, where every detail tells a story of centuries past. St. Peter's Basilica invites you to witness the intersection of divine inspiration and human achievement, leaving an indelible mark on your soul. Your guide will make sure you do not miss a detail.
Next, walk over to St Peter’s Basilica, the Italian Renaissance church that’s home to more artistic masterpieces, most famously Michelangelo’s La Pietà sculpture and Bernini’s bronze baldachin altar canopy.
As your tour ends in St Peter's Basilica, head to St. Peter's Square, an iconic masterpiece in Rome. It embraces visitors with its grandeur. Designed by Bernini, the vast elliptical space is encircled by a majestic colonnade, symbolizing the Church's embrace. The central obelisk and fountains add splendor, while the stunning façade of St. Peter's Basilica stands as a beacon of architectural brilliance, inviting pilgrims and tourists alike to marvel at the heart of Vatican City.

Marie Sophia was an excellent guide. Her knowledge of the Vatican's history and say. Peter's was stellar. She was able to navigate the crowds without skipping a beat. I would highly recommend this tour and especially Marie Sophia.
Great tour when it finished after 2 1/2 hours, we felt it could have been slightly longer for the cost
We did this tour two years ago with a different company but we still had an equally good experience. We had such a good time the first time we knew we would enjoy it a second time. This time we had a 1 year old with us. You’ll need a diaper bag with everything. Top off the baby before you leave your hotel. Small group tours are the way to go. We took a compact/foldable stroller as well as a chest baby carrier. The foldable stroller was for just before entering the museum and after leaving the basilica. It sucks carrying it through 90% of the tour but completely worth it afterwards. The chest carrier was necessary. You don’t want to have to use your arms to hold your child for 3 hours. Right before entering the sistine chapel there are bathrooms to top off the baby again and do a diaper change. This tour is doable with babies but it will be challenging. Absolutely worth it. Our tour guide was very accommodating. She had a great attitude and was very knowledgeable.
Alessandra was lovely. Very pleasant, thorough, excited and knowledgeable!
Simona was very informative and helpful. She has a deep knowledge of the history of all the artwork as well.
An excellent tour. The guide, Stefania, was very knowledgeable and knew how to maximise our time. She covered all areas of historical significance, while also weaving in more light-hearted facts. Stefania was warm, welcoming, and generous in sharing her knowledge as an Art History graduate. Highly recommend.
We took the small group tour with Leo and it was an incredible experience from beginning to end. Leo was so knowledgable and engaging, we learned a huge amount about some of our favourite works of art!
Amazing tour with Leo. So knowledgeable about everything and gave great insights into the history of the Vatican and artworks within.
Our tour guide gave us an amazing explanation of the artist who worked at the Sistine chapel as well as in the Saint Peter’s basilica. The art you saw was impersonating!
Our guide was very knowledgeable and the Vatican, the faith and history of many different figures and periods.
