Vatican 08/18/26

Great tour , 8/18/26 as mentioned skip line, Expect to walk under sun . Small group. Certainly a lot to see and not much time , Had the option to up to dommo but consider it a lot of steps,. Our guide Mr Etorre was very knowledgeable and attentive always of our specific needs. I am very happy with the service received. Also take into consideration that the tour was under a heat wave.

Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel & St. Peter's Basilica

We did four guided tours during our time in Rome, and unfortunately, this one had to be our least favorite. We were very excited to visit the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica, but the experience just didn’t turn out to be the day we had expected. From the beginning, our tour guide, Jessica, had issues with the audio system. It kept crackling and cutting in and out, making it difficult to hear her. Once inside, she left the group for a while to exchange the equipment with someone from the tour company and get a different audio setup. The over-the-ear earpieces were also an issue for many of the women in our group. The speaker portion was quite heavy, causing it to slip off smaller ears—including mine—which became a distraction throughout the tour. Jessica was also very soft-spoken, so even with the new equipment, it was sometimes difficult to hear her. Unfortunately, much of the tour seemed to consist of comments such as, “And we are walking,” “Here we are,” or reminders that we were moving on because the Vatican was so crowded. We felt that more time was spent moving us from room to room than actually explaining what we were seeing and sharing the history behind it. For example, when we were in the Octagonal Courtyard, there were many what appeared to be bathtubs scattered throughout the area. Not once did we hear an explanation of why they were there, where they came from, or what they were used for. I understand that it was August and the heat and crowds made the experience challenging, but sharing interesting facts and details from each room would have made a big difference. That was the information and knowledge we were expecting to receive as part of the tour, rather than simply being guided quickly from one area to the next to reach the final destination. I'm sure Jessica is very knowledgeable about the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica, but unfortunately, her presentation style did not come across as engaging or informative for our group. The tour did end at St. Peter’s Basilica, which ended up being my husband’s favorite part of the day. Once we were on our own, we spent quite a bit of time exploring the Basilica and taking photos, and we really enjoyed that portion of the visit. Overall, I think this tour may have been a very different experience with more tolerable temperatures, better audio equipment, and a different tour guide. The Vatican itself is absolutely incredible, but unfortunately, this particular tour did not provide the informative and engaging experience we had hoped for.

Not worth the price.

The bad rating is largely due to the horrible headsets they provide. Not only do they not stay in your ear, the cut out often. So, needles to say, didn't hear much of what the guide had to say. And while Eladia seem to be very knowledgeable and pleasant, she had somewhat elderly (but not handicapped) people in her group and was continuously so far ahead that we lost her several times. She did wait but and we eventually found her but we spent so much of the time looking for her and trying to keep up that we didn't get to experience as much as we should have. The 2 stars is just for where we were, which was beautiful, and we got to cut some long lines.would not recommend.

Operator response

Dear Michele_N, We sincerely apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations. We are especially sorry to hear about the issues with the headsets and the difficulty keeping up with the group, as we understand how this would have affected your ability to enjoy the tour. We appreciate your positive comments about Eladia and the sites visited. We would be happy to look into the details of your experience further. Please feel free to contact us directly with your booking number so we can review the booking and the circumstances with our team. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

Great tour but over crowded

The tour guide Sandra was amazing. She was informative and patient for a group of 20+. The only negative was that the whole thing was crowded. When you add that it was 90+ degrees it made it very uncomfortable.
