Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 4 Days (Return by Train)

A highly varied 4-day trek around the Salkantay massif with the discovery of Machu Picchu as the highlight, all perfectly organized by the OkiDoki Travel agency. The chef who preceded us on our route allowed us to recover strength tested by the journey, and our guide, Guillermo, was fantastic, both for his knowledge of the very diverse terrain we traveled (from the jungle to the peaks), the local flora, his management of the altitude, and the history and mythology of the places. A fantastic experience that is also a perfect alternative to the trek taking the Inca Trail. Highly recommended and another big thank you to Guillermo.

We did a 4-day trek around Salkantay as a family with the Oki Doki agency in July 2026. For a first time around Peru and with the apprehension of the altitude, everything went wonderfully, especially thanks to the great kindness of our guide Guillermo. The services are of exceptional value for money (excellent food, comfortable sleeping arrangements, as warm as possible) but above all the memories and the lessons that the adventure leaves are beyond compare. Guillermo's support at every moment allowed us to appreciate this trip all the more, both during the climbs and for the wonderful and detailed visit to Machu Picchu! We can only recommend it a thousand times!!

Thanks to Rony for this Salkantay trek, thanks to him I was able to find a woman, a reason to live, and my future job. I also learned that I was in love with anacondas, thanks to Rony for all of this, the best guide in the world. Thanks also to the chef, who worked all day for us, thanks for these incredible dishes that he prepared for us with few utensils, the food was delicious. +1 star for the 4:30 in the morning wake-up call for coca tea.

As for the hike itself, fantastic. Awesome trail with different landscapes throughout the time. Everything from food, logistics, communications from the company were all smooth. OUR GUIDE GUILLERMO!!!! Such an awesome guide. He made our trip so enjoyable. He was so supportive and we really felt like he cared for our well being and enjoyment of our trip.

We had a great time during the Salkantay Trek with Okidoki. We had a cozy and good guide Guillermo who arranged everything super well for us. In addition, we were served super tasty food all day by the chef Ronald. We had vegetarian and gluten-free dietary requirements that they took super well into account. You are also in smaller groups and all accommodations are in the most beautiful places. All in all we had a super good experience. We highly recommend Okidoki!

If you plan to do the Salkantay Trek.... So leave with Oki Doki with your eyes closed!!!! We had an unforgettable experience with them. This agency is just on top. They think of everything, plan everything and are always in care. Special mention to our guide dads, really exceptional, which made this crazy adventure even more incredible. Little + for our chef who accompanied us throughout this trek. The meals (well hearty and varied) are delicious and allow us to refuel every time!!! Finally, we were very apprehensive about this trek because we left in the rainy season, but they reassured us and made it truly unforgettable for us. Everything was perfect, again a thousand thanks Oki Doki for everything!!!!!!

We completed the Salkantay Trek in 4 days. It was a trek with absolutely beautiful landscapes accompanied by a guide with little care with whom we loved to sympathize: Guillermo. Being totally by chance a group of 8 French, he was very patient and always ready to tell us the history of the region, the Quechuas, the Incas and their traditions. We also ate very well, especially the guacamole of the 3rd day. For hesitants, it is not a very difficult trek, yes it was a bit breathless because of the altitude but quite feasible by anyone. In addition, Guillermo was always waiting for us without rushing if we were a little far behind. Just a little advice: Acclimatize before going through arequipa then at least 2 days in Cusco before the trek, we do not realize how much it helps. PS: For machu pichu tickets, circuit 3 with the Wayna Pichu is superb. You visit the ruins and then climb the mountain you see in the pictures of Machu Pichu. It’s a bit physical as if mounted, but the view at the top is superb.

I just finished the tour with Okidoki! It was amazing! All the staff was amazing, Guido, the Guide, was increable! Really recomend to everyone!
