Lares Trek to Machu Picchu 4 days with Panoramic Train

This will be one of the most beautiful hikes you will do in your life! The team who runs the hike is so organized and supportive of their fellow hikers. The meals were absolutely delicious, very fresh, and there was endless food for us to eat (starter, main, dessert). You cannot go hungry on this tour! It was a really authentic experience where we got to meet the local people and learn about their culture as well. The hikes were never busy or overrun with people - it was so lovely to be in nature without crowds. Our guide, Nilton, was an incredible tour guide who really cared for us. He got us hiking safely through high altitudes, deep snow, and of course, steep terrain. He prepared us really well for the hike ahead. It was a really rewarding experience, and very fun! Would do it again 10/10

I had a wonderful time on the Lares Trek as a solo female traveller. From the moment I booked, the company kept me updated and were incredibly helpful with all my questions. We also had a really useful briefing before we started, and the support, kindness and professionalism throughout the trek were second to none. I had the absolute pleasure of having Yovani as our guide, Celsio and Daniel as our chefs, and brothers Alberto and Álvaro as our horsemen. Yovani was supportive throughout, always looking out for us as we made our way up the mountains. He was very aware of our different abilities and made sure everyone felt comfortable and got the most from the experience. His love for his people and culture really came through, and our walks were filled with fascinating history, stories and information. He was a fantastic guide and always followed up on any request. Celsio and Daniel worked incredibly hard to make every meal feel like a five-star experience. From warm, nourishing breakfasts to delicious fruit and vegetables, they kept us well fed throughout. We were even treated to roast marshmallows, popcorn and a homemade cake at the end of our days! Alberto and Álvaro did all the heavy lifting and the often unseen work of setting up and carrying our equipment, always with a smile. Every member of the team took great pride in their work and gave 100%. I couldn't have asked for a better group to experience the Lares Trek with. SULPAYKI 🇵🇪 🌄

We had a wonderful experience with TreXperience ! During 4 days everything was perfect : the communication, the organization, the activities, the equipment... The chief Luiz Alberto prepared us amazing meals (delicious, hearty and gorgeous), et our guide René was so kind, patient and professional. Thank you very much to all the team ! I absolutely loved this experience and would highly recommend. The trip was well organised and the whole team from those in the office, the guide, the horsemen and chefs made it all so easy and enjoyable for us. Our guide was Yovani- wonderfully knowledgeable and passionate, friendly and very patient during the trek when I was finding some parts hard work! He did not rush us through (like I’ve heard some companies do) but rather he encouraged us to take our time and enjoy the journey- this really put me at ease and allowed us to step back and admire the incredible landscapes all around us! The horsemen (we had Viktor and Ernesto from one of the villages on the route) were friendly, professional and so hard working- they put up and took down all our tents at impressive speed and made sure we didn’t have to lift a finger! The chefs (Celso and Daniel) are true magicians, cooking delicious, varied and comforting meals along the way- in a tent! Lots of little extra touches like happy hour (tea, coffee and snacks) and hot water bottles at night added to our comfort and enjoyment. They all take so much pride in their work and want you to have the best experience, which we absolutely did. For me, the trek was a good balance of hiking and feeling like I’d accomplished something whilst also experiencing the culture of the Andean villages, seeing breathtaking landscapes and getting to see some other spots like markets, hot springs, Maras Salt Mines and Ollantaytambo and of course visiting Macchu Picchu on the final day which is as incredible as everyone says! Take warm clothes for the nights and early mornings. I’d also recommend hiring a sleeping bag from them as it was really warm and comfortable.

We booked through Bookatrekking and went with TreXperience. Wehave really enjoyed both the trekking( beautiful nature and scenery) and the the whole experience. The Larestreck is a little less touristic, so you feel like you’re the only one in the mountains. Our small group was very well taken care of by our local guide William, the very good chef freddy accompanied bij chef assistent Juvanil and horsman julian. Because of the Holidays two of them too there 12 year old Boys with him. They helped very wel and want to become a guide one day.

What a great 4 day Larestrek we had. Our guide: William, chief; Freddy Asistent: juvenal and Horsman: Julian have arranged everything and there is delicious cooking, all fresh food and different every day. The larestrek is less touristy, you come to the locals' house and the views are beautiful. Really recommended to do this. The train and bus transport is all arranged and finally you arrive at Macchu Picchu on the 4th day. We rented the sleeping bag, mattress and trekking poles. Especially the last one I was very happy with.

I want to share my experience on the 4-day Lares Trek with TreXperience. From the briefing with our guide Antony the day before the tour until the return to our hotel, everything was organized in detail. From the very first moment, we had a very good connection with Antony. He has the talent of turning historical data into interesting stories, often with a touch of humor, which made every explanation very entertaining. Furthermore, he has great knowledge about the flora and fauna of the region and, thanks to the fact that he speaks Quechua, we were able to communicate with the people of the Andean communities. It was a unique experience to visit an Andean home and learn a little about what life is like isolated in the mountains. During a large part of the tour, we were accompanied by chefs Oscar and Julio, who performed true miracles with every meal. They surprised us with typical dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients. The variety was incredible: not a single dish or drink was repeated during the entire trek. They even prepared a cake for us for the last breakfast. We ate as if in a gourmet restaurant, but under a tent and surrounded by the beautiful Andean landscapes. For those who enjoy nature, contact with wildlife and local people, and prefer to avoid tourist crowds, I recommend the Lares Trek without a doubt. Filio was an amazing guide. Friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable. Pleasure to work with. Luis Alberto, our chef was amazing and so much good. He and Elder, his assistant were great. The TreXperience office staff was a different story. Changing plans with little notice, misinformation, not following through with what they said they would do. That was disappointing.

Absolute 100/10 experience. We were 2 women travelling and it ended up being a private tour of just us, we felt completely safe and beyond comfortable — truly we received a princess treatment for 4 full days. Our guide, Elias, is the best guide I’ve ever gotten on hikes — very knowledgeable and supportive through the hike and during rest times, if you happen to get him, truly a gem. The food was UNBELIEVABLE, our cook Fredy (with his assistant Léon) was so talented and provided huge portions of some of the best food I’ve ever had (also they are extremely accomplished in vegetarian alternatives!). Our horseman Toribio was so speedy and got us the best campsites every single night (because yes they race between companies haha! We were super glad to be with TreXperience every night!) The entire team set up everything and had all aspects of this trip so well planed and thought through it allowed us to just enjoy the hike. Which on that note, the Lares Trek offered the most beautiful sights I have ever witnessed from my own eyes, and I’ve hiked and traveled a lot. The breaks in the little villages were peaceful and allowed us to be emerged in Lares/Peruvian culture, and there weren’t as many people as other treks. Overall, incredible experience, would redo exactly the same with this team any day! Thank you so much to the 4 of them!

We completed the combined 5 days/4 nights Lares Trek + Short Inca Trail. The Lares Trek was run by guide, David, who was positive, knowledgeable and full of good energy. The chefs, Augusto and Alex, cooked amazing food, including producing a cake on the third morning (I don't know how they did it!). Then we moved onto the Short Inca Trail where we had the privilege of spending time with guide Thoni (or Tony, or Thony, or Tony Montana) who was probably the best guide we've ever had in all of our travels. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the trail and Machu Picchu. Rather than just listing a bunch of facts, Thoni went deep into the connections between Incan society, culture, and spirituality. He embodied the knowledge and was deeply passionate about the area. All of the other guides knew Thoni and he appears to be highly respected amongst his peers. He was also great company at dinner on the night of Day 1. We felt privileged to be in the presence of Thoni, an authentic and kind person, generous with his knowledge. While many tour guides are like AI robots, Thoni is the real deal. We miss you already Thoni!
