In this workshop, you will make 4 paper products, so a lot of stuff to do! At the end, you will have your design of two postcards, Rakusui paper, and A5 paper. You will experience the entire process of Japanese papermaking, including Hyouhitor (peeling off the outer bark) and Dakai (beating tree fibers). Then, pour the raw material into a paper-making mold and deckle before sifting the solution to form an even and flat sheet of paper. While your paper is drying, we offer our original "Japanese paper tea" along with local Japanese sweets. We make tea from Kozo leaves, which are the raw material for making paper, and the sweets are sourced from a beloved local shop. Disclaimer: There is a cat in my workshop. Kaho gave a very personalized workshop about paper making with kozo. She was very attentive to my special requests and adapted according to what I wanted to learn. She even continued to give me detailed advice by email after the workshop, encouraging me in my exploration of the material. I would highly recommend taking her workshop!
A fun private workshop where you learn about all the stages that go into creating Washi paper before each creating 4 sheets of paper using different natural finishes. Meet Kami the workshop mascot cat who keeps a watchful eye over you as you work (may look like sleeping). Finish with a tea made from the plant the Washi is made from.

Traveled to Singapore via Doha with qua-tar airlines we ordered the easy on the stomach food, sandwich white bread with lettuce on it was yuk, then from Australia via qua-tar airlines to Doha then Doha to Manchester, comfort seats, which were good, food I have never had so much rubbish food wise, did not eat it from Australia to Doha where I ate in the airport at Doha then to Manchester ate nothing the food was presented to me but inedible. Staff no smiles didn’t care what you asked and uninterested. I’ve been on trips with tui to Caribbean food not too bad,) tui staff respect was second to none. I’m not qua-tar’s first class passenger but please don’t give me inedible food and your staff needs teaching how to smile and talk to their ordinary customers with respect.

An absolute must if visiting Tokyo. The workshop mascot cat Kami is adorable and you get to create 4 different papers.

The teacher was excellent and she was patient and kind. The Washi paper creation process was fun and we really enjoyed the special tea and sweets.
