Description
Experience the awe-inspiring Inca ruins of Machu Picchu, known as one of the New 7 Wonders of the modern world, on a full-day tour by the Expedition Train. Situated on a mountain ridge above the Sacred Valley, this well-preserved relic of Inca civilization is South America’s most popular attraction, receiving an estimated 5,000 visitors daily. The Expedition Train, a fantastic train class provided by Perurail, offers a comfortable and stylish way to witness the wonder of Machu Picchu while passing through remote villages and historic sites, providing stunning views of the Andean landscape. Note: Passport photo is required to purchase tickets. We offer 3 Machu Picchu circuits: Circuit 1: Panoramic views, no temple visits. Circuit 2: Full tour with postcard photo and temple visits. BOOK 5 month in advance. Circuit 3: Lower entrance, no access to the photo platform, but includes temple visits. Please send your passport photos once you have made the reservation to arrange your trip.

Cusco
Your adventure to Machu Picchu begins with a meeting point pick-up between 4:30 am and 4:45 am, setting off for a train journey filled with stunning vistas.
Aguas Calientes
En route, you'll be captivated by the Inca landscape featuring snow-capped peaks, lush sub-tropical jungles, and ancient Inca agricultural terraces. The train brings you to Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo, where your guide will be waiting to escort you on a 25-minute bus ride to the Machu Picchu citadel.
Machupicchu
Upon arrival, you'll embark on a 3-hour guided tour of the site. Your guide will enlighten you on Inca history and culture, highlighting the citadel's key areas. Post-tour, you'll have leisure time to wander and discover Machu Picchu at your own pace. Back in Aguas Calientes, you have the option to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
Ollantaytambo
Your return journey commences with a train ride back to Ollantaytambo, departing either at 16:22 pm. or 6:10pm From there, depending on the availability, bus will ensure your smooth transfer back to meeting point, concluding your memorable excursion.

Seamless Experience
A wonderful tour! As it was my first time to Peru, I was a little worried about how I would navigate to Machu Picchu as hiking was not our preferred option but this company made the journey so easy and seamless! Starting from booking, they were quick to respond and organized our site tickets easily. Pickup and additional info was shared promptly and you didn’t have to ask for more clarity. Their communication is top tier! Pickup from our hotel and drop off was seamless with a couple of well experienced drivers. As promised, someone was waiting with a sign with our names at both the drop off and pick up points. Everyone was so friendly as well! The most outstanding part though, was our guide Jesus. He met us promptly and took us on an amazing tour of Circuit 3. He was very knowledgeable and shared lovely facts about Machu Picchu and the Inca empire. He also knew when to slow down or pause as the altitude started to affect us a little. He was extremely friendly and courteous and made our Machu Picchu visit hands down, an amazing journey.

Best Machu Picchu experience ever
Isao, our tour guide from Peru Hikers was an amazing guide for Circuits 1 and 3. He called us the night before to prepare for the tour and gave us great insights about Machu Picchu. Not to mention, he was also an AMAZING photographer helping our family get great photos. After the tour he made sure to help us call in a dinner order to be delivered to our train station so that we can eat it on the train back to our hotel.

Memorable Once in a Lifetime Tour
We were so lucky so be assigned Isao as our Machu Picchu tour guide on Friday 9/4. He was super fun, knowledgeable, charismatic and made the tour super memorable! We booked two circuits, 1 and 3 to get the best views for pictures and history knowledge. Isao knew all the best picture spots and was very patient helping us get all the best pictures. He recommended really good food places and helped us order food for the train ride back to Cusco. He was also very patient with our 12 year old and answered all her questions, his answers and energy really encouraged her to ask more which made her really engaged in this once in a lifetime tour! Highly recommend booking tours with Peru hikes! They handled every single step of the trip for us and we just had to be ready at our hotel door! Super streamlined! Do not hesitate booking this incredible tour! Life changing experience!
