Great experience but some issues

Our driver, Palli, was super! The Blue Lagoon was also a great experience. The instructions from Marina Travel were extremely confusing. You need to do better at explaining what private transfer means as well as bus transfer. My sister also had the same opinion. I did private transfer and Palli picked us up at the hotel and texted just before. My sister did bus transfer but got two different emails with conflicting instructions. As it was, my emails were also hard to understand unless you actually knew how things worked. First timers do not. Premium means only that you have premium masks at Blue Lagoon; it doesn't have anything to do with private transfer as Palli kindly explained. We both thought that Premium meant pick up at the hotel; my sister thought the same and barely made the bus. Again, more thorough and clear instructions would have been helpful.

Operator response

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We’re very happy to hear that you had a great experience at the Blue Lagoon and that Palli provided such excellent service. We’re sorry to hear that you found the instructions confusing. We completely understand that, for first-time visitors, the different transfer options and package inclusions may not always be immediately clear. We would like to clarify that the difference between the Comfort and Premium packages, as well as the different private and bus transfer options, is clearly outlined in the tour description at the time of booking. Following the booking, we also send detailed instructions to our travellers, together with the relevant tickets, which explain the arrangements and the services included in the selected option. The difficulty we sometimes encounter is that the general Viator tour confirmation does not contain all of the detailed operational information that we provide separately. If travellers do not see or refer to the correspondence and tickets we send, they may rely solely on the general Viator confirmation, which can unfortunately lead to misunderstandings regarding the transfer arrangements. While this is not something we can fully control, we do our best to provide our travellers with clear and detailed information and to make the differences between the options as transparent as possible. That said, we genuinely appreciate your feedback. We will certainly review the wording of our instructions once again to see if there are areas where we can make them even clearer, particularly for travellers who are visiting Iceland for the first time. Thank you again for your feedback, and we’re glad that, despite the confusion, everything worked out and you were able to enjoy the Blue Lagoon experience. Kind regards, Marina Travel Team

Overpriced! Marina Travel is a scam!

Overpriced! Several other SAME options available for $200 less. Marina Travel “says” their tour is different than others offered but it is NOT. I had friends on the less-priced tour and it was exactly the same as mine with Marina Travel. I have Marina Travel an opportunity to improve their situation and they refused to budge in their position of being overpriced. Buyer beware. Marina Travel is scamming folks in Reykjavik!

Operator response

Dear Rhonda, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you felt this way about your experience. We would like to clarify that our prices and the specific services provided are clearly detailed in the tour description before a booking is confirmed. This information is available to every client so that they can compare options and make an informed decision before proceeding with their purchase. We fully respect that travelers may choose a different provider if they find another tour that better suits their budget or preferences. However, once a booking has been made and the agreed services have been provided, we cannot be responsible for the client's decision to book with us or for comparisons made with other companies afterwards. Similarly, we cannot issue refunds for services that were provided as agreed simply because another provider may have offered a lower price. We take our work, our time, and our commitment to our clients very seriously. Our goal is always to provide a transparent service and the best possible experience. We are particularly disappointed by the accusation that Marina Travel is “scamming” customers. We have been operating our business honestly and professionally for many years and have built an excellent rating based on the experiences and trust of our clients over that time. We value this reputation greatly and would never intentionally mislead our customers. For these reasons, we believe this review does not accurately reflect our company or the service provided, but rather your frustration regarding the refund requested after the tour, despite having received and enjoyed the services as booked. We take such accusations seriously, but cannot accept statements that are unfounded and do not reflect the reality of the service provided or the way we operate our business. Best regards, Marina Travel Team

Perfect day at The Blue Lagoon

Our trip included transportation from the cruise ship terminal in Reykjavik to and from The Blue Lagoon. We had no issues and enjoyed our time in the Lagoon. We went early (left Reykjavik at 9:00 and was at the Blue Lagoon before 10:00). I would highly suggest that as it got more and more crowded. We were able to do the face masks and get our drinks before the long lines and crowds, so go early! The facilities at the Blue Lagoon are really nice. They provide everything you need, including bathing suit dryers so you aren’t schlepping soaking suits back. Great experience.

Operator response

Relaxing experience

The Blue Lagoon is an enjoyable experience. It is a LONG walk uphill from parking lot to entrance, wheelchairs are available at the luggage storage at the parking lot. Locker rooms can be quite crowded. All the staff were extremely helpful, and the lagoon is beautiful, warm, and relaxing. I loved the face mask experience and the blue lagoon seltzer is a refreshing drink. The ride to the location included a bus change after hotel pickup.

Operator response

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the Blue Lagoon, and appreciate your kind words about the staff. We hope you had a wonderful time in Iceland. It was a pleasure having you with us!

Wonderful Experience!

Going to the Blue Lagoon was a special experience! We booked this trip because our flight landed very early AM and we couldn't check into our hotel until the afternoon. We got dropped off and then picked back up for the ride to town and our hotel. It was fun getting all the mud masks and sipping a cocktail in the warm water while snow was falling from above. Highly recommend you check out the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, you'll love it! Oh, we also got the option with robes and towels which was an excellent choice. The changing areas and shower facilities were also very accommodating and offered lockers for your stuff.

Operator response

Dear Guest, Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We're delighted to hear that everything went smoothly and that you enjoyed your time at the Blue Lagoon. We hope to welcome you back to Iceland again soon!

Good experience at the Blue Lagoon – Go Early and get the Premium Package

My group of 4 adults booked the Premium Package with transfer and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The premium package was a great value – it includes a robe, a drink, and three different masks, all of which were significantly cheaper than purchasing them individually at the Lagoon. (People kept stopping me to ask where I got my robe!) The transfer service from Reykjavik worked well, especially since we didn’t have a car. Just be sure to plan for extra time, as the pickup window and travel add a good buffer. We spent around 3 hours in the lagoon on a Saturday. We arrived at 10 am and the group felt ready to leave at 1, but honestly I wish we had stayed longer to enjoy the restaurant or the upstairs lounge area. Two tips: Go to the back of the lagoon to the adults only section. Although the lifeguards do their best, the lagoon gets 4 stars because the children ruin the tranquility. Make a reservation if you want to eat on the early side at the restaurant. There is also a cafe where you do not need reservations. Overall, a beautiful and memorable experience. Highly recommend!

Great experience. Highly recommend

Lagoon experience was amazing. Bius Tickets - we and the transport staff were however unclear where to get paper/device tickets transferred but bus staff and lagoon staff proved helpful. It was unclear what the correct bus company was, even with barcode in hand. Some improved instructions on the confirmation would be useful but regardless, of the hiccup, staff were lovely and very helpful, it was an amazing experience once we got there. It would have only been better if the bus operators weren’t confused by whose bus we should be on. The confirmation didn’t state the bus company and provide the correct references. Both bus drivers were very confused. Paperwork info needs broadening to include bus company details in case of issue. So please check with the operator before you leave and get written confirmation details . We wasted a good half an hour - 15 mins both ends, with people not knowing if we were there customers. This meant we kept getting moved from one bus to another by drivers. It was slightly embarrassing.

Operator response

Dear Guest, Thank you for your detailed feedback, and we’re very glad to hear that you enjoyed the lagoon experience and found the staff helpful and welcoming. We would like to clarify that situations like the one you described are quite unusual. In the confirmation email sent after booking, we provide detailed transportation instructions, including the pickup time window (which can be up to 30 minutes), the name displayed on the minibus, and the bus color to help identify the correct vehicle. As multiple buses often pass through the same stops, it is standard procedure for passengers to show their ticket to the driver to ensure they are boarding the correct transfer. While we understand this may have caused some temporary confusion, this process is generally in place to avoid passengers boarding the wrong bus and potentially missing their transfer altogether. That said, we truly appreciate your feedback and will review how we can make the instructions even clearer to help prevent any uncertainty in the future. We’re very pleased that you had an enjoyable overall experience, and we hope to welcome you again.

Not bad but beware of mulyiple bus transfers

We've been to the blue lagoon before and that was great, just as it was last time, although we were a group of 11 but still had to wait a bit for help even though there was a specific line for groups of 10 or more. As for the transportation it wasn't bad but no where in the booking did it say you had to transfer multiple buses to get to and from the location. It was doable but I wouldn't have booked it if I knew that, especially since we had kids with us and were a larger party so ensuring that we could all fit on the same bus for each transfer was a tad stressful.

Operator response

Dear Melissa, Thank you very much for your feedback. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the lagoon. Regarding the transportation, please note that this information is included in the meeting and pick-up description of the tour prior to booking. The exact information provided is as follows: “For Reykjavik pick-ups from the hotel or nearest bus stop, you will be picked up by a minibus and transferred to the Bus Terminal to join a coach bus that will take you to the Lagoon. You will be dropped off at the Blue Lagoon. The same procedure is applied for the return to Reykjavik.” Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to welcoming you back to Iceland in the future. Kind regards, Marina Travel Team
