The Gros-Horloge is one of the emblematic monuments of the city of Rouen. The building, attached to a belfry, consists of a Renaissance arch spanning the rue du Gros-Horloge surmounted by an astronomical clock from the 14th century.
Place du Vieux-Marche

It was on this square, in the middle of the Hundred Years' War that Joan of Arc was burnt alive on May 30, 1431. The place, as Joan of Arc could see it, did not resemble what it was. is today. The square was smaller and its space was occupied by the Saint-Sauveur church, the Saint-Michel church and by a large market hall. It was also the usual place of executions. A large cross was erected on the site of the pyre.
In the middle of the square, the remains of the old Saint-Sauveur church have been unearthed. It is in this modest parish church that Pierre Corneille was baptized, his birthplace, rue de la Pie, now transformed into a museum located nearby.
Today it is a lively square, around which are restaurants and bars

Highly Recommended!

Fun day trip from Paris!
This tour was so fun and interesting! Easily one of the best tour guides I ever had. We did a day trip from Paris and it was worth the extra 1.5 hour train ride!

The Perfect Introduction to Rouen
We had a wonderful small-group walking tour of Rouen with Ludovic. His English was excellent, and he was joyful, enthusiastic, and so knowledgeable throughout the tour. He made the history of Rouen come alive while keeping everything fun and engaging.
Ludovic made sure we had plenty of time to take photos at all the important spots, and he even offered to take pictures of us along the way. He asked questions, kept the group involved, and made the experience feel personal and memorable.
This is the first thing everyone should do when they arrive in Rouen. It’s the perfect introduction to the city, and Ludovic was an outstanding guide!

A terrific guided walk of Rouen
This was a terrific guided walk of historical Rouen. Our guide was knowledgeable, engaging and had some great stories ( and quizzes) along the way. It was a very small group, which gave opportunity for asking questions. Most enjoyable!

A visit that makes you love Rouen.
More than two hours of informative, varied walks punctuated by small anachronistic moments, revealing the city in unique and original aspects. Ludovic's personality and energy contribute greatly to this experience. We were a group of 6 young seniors, and the moment was unique. Kudos to Ludovic. We recommend the visit and the guide!

Excellent Tour of Rouen and the Culture of Normandy.
I had a great time on this tour. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the city of Rouen and the history of Normandy.
