Versailles Guided Visit – Hotel Pickup, Meeting Point or None

The trip itself was easy and well organized after a scheduling change. We were picked up directly from our hotel and dropped back off afterward, which was very convenient. The guided tour inside Versailles was well done, informative, and interesting. We also appreciated having time to explore the gardens on our own, although it might have been nice to include a short guided portion of the gardens as well. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and thought the tour and transportation were handled very well. However, everyone in our group agreed that the price was far too high for what was included. At almost $700, we simply did not feel the experience provided enough value to justify the cost.

Great tour to give an overall impression of Versailles. The activity was well organized. Our driver picked us up at our hotel punctually. He was kind and offered tidbits of information as we drove around Paris and headed for the highway to Versailles. We only had 5 people in our group, so it felt very much like a private tour. The other folks were friendly and interesting. I can’t remember the name of our local guide, but she was excellent. She had a passion for French history and related this history while viewing the aspects of the palace. The tour allowed easy access to skip lines and get on with our activity. Versailles is massive, and I think without her help, we would have been frustrated wasting time. Our guide was very accommodating in taking pictures for us. This was a half day tour, which didn’t leave a lot of time for self exploration of the grounds. However, in the heat of the summer, the shorter tour time did allow us to experience the flavor of the place without being exhausted. It was surprisingly uncrowded on the day we went. Our guide told us that on a Wednesday, many people opt to go to the Louvre because it is closed on Tuesday—this left a smaller crowd at Versailles. For instance, reading reviews, I expected the Hall of Mirrors to be packed shoulder to shoulder, and it really wasn’t bad at all. However, Wednesday is also not a “fountain day”, so the water was not flowing. Not sure if this is always the case, or a function of France’s drought in the summer of ‘26. For efficiency, and the kindness/knowledge of our guide, I heartily recommend this tour!

Versailles with Nafi Nafi was a fantastic guide for our Versailles trip. She was attentive and helpful to the whole group, skipped the lines for us, and clearly knew the palace inside and out. My teenage kids had a lot of questions — especially my son, who’s studying the French Revolution this year — and she answered everything knowledgeably, with great anecdotes that kept the whole experience interesting. It was extremely hot the day we visited, so we spent more time in the shade and at the restaurant than in the gardens, but that wasn’t down to Nafi. Our driver was also safe and professional throughout. Highly recommend.

Outstanding tour and tour guide. You absolutely have to book a tour or you will be waiting in crazy lines. We learned so much history in just a few hours. If I were doing it again, I might book the full day tour so we could spend more time in the gardens. They are magnificent!

Very good tour and very informative. I would have never known or spotted the details our guide pointed out in some of the art and the details of the building. Excellent! Easy to hear as well with the audio headphones

Wonderful experience. We were picked up at our hotel by a driver. Two other couples were also with the same driver. We arrived at Versailles; had a wonderful tour guide and explored the gardens on our own. The driver was back at the appointed time to pick us up and drop us back at our hotel. Wonderful tour!!

Excellent tour. Great communication from Viator. Our driver Sumith was very professional. Naomi was an excellent tour guide. Very knowledgeable and engaging. Perfect amount of time in palace & free time to explore the gardens. Highly recommend.

Versailles is a beautiful place. We were able to find our tour guide very easily. She had headsets for us to use so we could hear her clearly. Our tour guide Sophie, did a super job explaining the rooms we were in with lots of detail. It was crowded, but she was able to negotiate spots in the rooms where we could see the things she was talking about and take photos. I would highly recommend this excursion. When we booked this excursion, we were able to book a pick up at our hotel, which was great. The driver was very prompt picking us up and bringing us back.

Be prepared to walk, wear comfortable shoes, so much to see! I could’ve spent the entire weekend here! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of our questions, and she shared historical tidbits and fun facts as we went along.
