Of course this wonderful Vatican tour includes access to the incredible Sistine Chapel. Although it is true there is something to be said for the early morning light in the Sistine Chapel, we believe there is even more to be said about its magical evening glow. Rome is famous for its “golden hour” which is that fleeting, enchanted moment just before dusk when the city seems to turn to Pure Gold. From January 12 through March 31, the Vatican Museums will be carrying out special conservation work on Michelangelo’s Last Judgment inside the Sistine Chapel. During this time, a scaffolding structure will cover the entire Last Judgment wall. The Sistine Chapel will remain open and fully accessible, but this specific artwork will not be visible during the restoration period. Thank you for your understanding as this masterpiece receives important care.

Based on the description of the tour we thought we would be getting a full tour of the Vatican, but in fact you need to book a separate tour of St. Peter’s. This was unclear based on the description of the tour online. We also booked this and requested a kid friendly tour and our tour guide knew nothing about the details and was both dismissive and rude in her response. We booked via Viator but were assigned a Liv tour guide. Our other Viator and Liv tours were great on the trip but this was not a good experience and was nearly 3x the cost of any other tour we did and for less time.
Sandro was amazing and helped educate us on the important religious components that we were not familiar with. Highly recommend him!
We were traveling as a family of 5 with our youngest at 7 years old. The experience of touring the museum and Sistine Chapel after hours was incredible. The private viewing of the Sistine Chapel was life changing and a memory we will never forget. Pamen was super knowledgeable, engaging, patient, and very kind. She stopped to explain all the important facts, shared great stories, and answered all our questions. She took beautiful family photos throughout the museum. I couldn’t recommend Pamen or this once in a life time experience enough!
What sn incredible experience! I don't know how people do this without a guide. Luckily, we had Attilia. She was an amazing guide with so much knowledge and extremely friendly too! We would definitely book a tour with LivTours again!
Her English was good explained the back story of the Sistine Chapel before
Amazing tour! Cristiano was great and gave us a awesome experience
Great guide and very informative. Personalized for our family.
Ella was an excellent guide! She was knowledgeable, engaging, and made our tour of the Vatican and Sistine Chapel both enjoyable and informative. Her passion for the history and art really brought everything to life. We learned so much and highly recommend her to anyone visiting. Thank you, Ella, for a wonderful experience!
Excellent tout! Very thorough and informative.
Ribel our guide was amazing. Booking the Vatican after hours is a completely different experience with almost nobody there. We heard horror stories from our family about elbow to elbow people at the Vatican and this experience was anything but that. Room to spread out, take pictures and just listen to our guide. Ribel was so knowledgeable and he made me realize how little I know about religion history both Old Testament and new! The highlight of this tour was visiting the Sistine Chapel and being able to take it all in with hardly anybody there! Beware that if you want to see St Peter’s that this trip will not make it there in time before it closes. We were told by many people in Rome that it’s easy to book a ticket to St Peter’s only on another day though and I would say that we have no regrets and some day will do that. Thank you so much Ribel!
