The heart of Florence lies within the Piazza del Duomo, anchored by its stunning cathedral. The baptistery's famous bronze doors are known as the "Gate of Paradise," while the cathedral itself boasts what was, upon its completion in the 1400s, the largest masonry dome ever built.
Orsanmichele perfectly illustrates the fusion of commerce and faith in Florence. This monumental structure was initially a covered ancient grain market and is now celebrated for the stunning Renaissance statues that adorn its exterior, turning a place of trade into a gallery of masterworks.
Piazza della Repubblica stands as the true, ancient heart of Florence. It marks the original site of the Roman Forum and the geographical center of the city, a function still marked today by the Colonna dell'Abbondanza (Column of Abundance).
Stop at the Fontana del Porcellino in the Mercato Nuovo. Visitors test their luck by rubbing the snout of the wild boar statue and letting a coin drop through the grate. If the coin falls through, it's believed to guarantee good fortune and a safe return to the city.
The focal point of civil life, Piazza della Signoria is an unmissable open air gallery. It features a replica of David alongside the massive Palazzo Vecchio, while the Loggia dei Lanzi showcases Renaissance masterpieces like Cellini's Perseus with the Head of Medusa, sculptures that served as powerful political statements for the city's rulers.
As you look out from the Uffizi, you'll see a true marvel of architecture: the Vasari Corridor. This exclusive, private walkway was built for Duke Cosimo I de' Medici, allowing him and his family to move unseen between their government offices in Palazzo Vecchio and their home in the Palazzo Pitti. Your vantage point on the second floor of the Uffizi places you right at the start of its hidden route across the Arno River.
From the windows of the Uffizi's second-floor corridor, you can enjoy a stunning, privileged view of the Ponte Vecchio, the "Old Bridge." This medieval stone bridge, built in 1345, is famous for the shops built right along its length. Originally home to stinky butchers, a decree by Grand Duke Ferdinando I de' Medici in 1593 replaced them with goldsmiths and jewelers to improve the decorum of the area. This tradition endures, making the bridge an iconic, glittering landmark on the Arno River.
This majestic, U-shaped palace was designed by Giorgio Vasari for Cosimo I de’ Medici, the first Grand Duke of Tuscany. It was built starting in 1560 to house the administrative "offices" (uffizi) of Florence. The vast art collection amassed by the powerful Medici family featuring ancient sculptures and Renaissance masterpieces transformed this administrative center into one of the world’s first and finest art museums. This incredible legacy ensured that iconic works by masters like Botticelli, Leonardo, and Michelangelo were protected and preserved for the public forever.

Amazing tour. Our guide Sylvia was so friendly and knowledgable.
Our guide, Rosa was assertive which helped us move into spaces and in front of lines which gave us more time to explore the artwork. She was very knowledgeable of the artwork and its historical perspective

Fantastic Tours. Sylvia’s knowledge of art history was amazing and made the two are very educational. She was also entertaining and fun.
It is a great way to skip the line at the Accademia Museum to see the statute of David. The city tour was interesting and the tour guide was very knowledgeable!
Anna was a great guide! Charming and interesting, we loved her way of delivering the information. Would recommend
We had an outstanding four-hour tour of the Accademia and Uffizi with Cosetta. She was extremely knowledgeable and gave us a clear and engaging introduction to the works, their history, and their artistic context. What especially impressed me was her ability to go into greater depth when we asked questions. Our conversation ranged from Neoplatonism, Ficino, and Botticelli to Cellini and Mannerism, and her answers were thoughtful, detailed, and illuminating. Cosetta encouraged questions throughout and was wonderfully responsive to our particular interests. She was also warm, accessible, and engaging, and made a four-hour tour feel remarkably easy. She struck an excellent balance between making the art accessible and offering considerably more depth when we wanted it. A memorable experience and one of the highlights of our visit to Florence. Highly recommended!

Best way to see Florence art… This was a brilliant tour with Silvia our guide - she brought insight and humour to the tour of both the Academia and Uffizi. Great tour highly recommend.
The Accademia Gallery is definitely worth the visit, the wait, and the money, especially if you enjoy art. The musical instrument museum inside is also very interesting and well worth seeing. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend the tour company we used. The timing wasn’t managed well, and they initially tried to use tickets whose entry time had already passed. As a result, we had to leave the queue and re-enter later after they arranged new tickets for us. Overall, the Accademia Gallery itself was a great experience and absolutely worth visiting.
