Enjoyed tour

Wonderful tour of both the Accademia and Uffizi museums. Both tour guides were passionate and engaging as they provided the history of the art. I would highly recommend. However, it should be known that you will meet the first tour guide at the Accademia. After that tour ends (about 1 hour) you have to make your way to the Uffizi to meet your second tour guide for the Uffizi. It is doable as it is about a 15 minute walk. But it prevents you from spending more time in the Accademia after your guided tour is complete. If you prefer extra time I wouldn’t book the 2 museums under the same tour.

DO NOT BOOK - Avoid at all costs!!!

I booked the Michelangelo’s David, Accademia & Uffizi Small Group Tour specifically because I wanted to avoid rushing between locations and expected the experience to be a properly coordinated tour covering both attractions. Based on the way the tour was presented, I also understood that it would be a single tour with one guide accompanying us between the two locations. Unfortunately, this was not what was provided. I was shocked to learn at the Accademia check-in that the Uffizi portion had a completely separate guide and that I would be expected to make my own way to the Uffizi. Nowhere in the tour overview or itinerary was it clearly disclosed that these were effectively two separate tours with different guides, nor was it made clear that transportation/walking between the locations was entirely our responsibility. This is a significant omission because it fundamentally changes the nature of what a customer is purchasing. Had this been clearly stated in the listing, I would not have booked this tour. The entire reason I chose a combined small-group tour was to have a coordinated experience without having to rush from one attraction to another or worry about whether I could physically get to the second location in time. The timing was another major issue. Our Accademia tour was scheduled for 1:00 p.m., but we did not actually enter the museum until after 1:20 p.m. The advertised tour was supposed to last one hour. However, we were expected to leave by approximately 2:00 p.m. in order to make the second part of the tour. This meant that, in practice, we could not receive the full one-hour Accademia tour that we had paid for without missing the Uffizi portion. In other words, because of the way the tour was scheduled, we were faced with an impossible choice: either leave the Accademia before receiving the full advertised tour in order to attempt to make the Uffizi tour, or stay for the tour we had paid for and inevitably miss the second portion. This was not something we were made aware of when booking, or even before arriving at the meeting point. The “What’s Included” section also states: “Free time between the two tours (if your tour includes the ‘Accademia & Uffizi Galleries’).” However, what we experienced did not correspond to this description. There was not meaningful free time between two independently scheduled tours because the timing did not allow sufficient time to complete the first tour and physically make our way to the second location. I contacted Viator at approximately 2:00 p.m., while we were only about 20 minutes into the Accademia tour, to explain that the tour was already running beyond the time we were supposed to leave and that, having only entered the museum after 1:20 p.m., it was physically impossible to complete the full one-hour tour and then make it to the Uffizi in time. I requested a partial refund for the Uffizi portion because, at that point, it was clear that we could not realistically attend it. (They said no, since it was my fault i did not leave on time for the second part of the tour). What is particularly concerning is that even our Accademia guide appeared surprised by the scheduling and acknowledged that having the second portion of the tour scheduled so close to the first did not allow enough time to physically get between the two locations. To make matters even clearer, no one else in our group had booked the combined multi-location tour. We therefore had no indication from the group itself that the Uffizi portion involved a different guide or that we would be required to leave the Accademia and make our own way to another location on such a tight schedule. Ultimately, I feel that I was misled about what I was purchasing. The issue is not simply that the tour ran late or that there was an inconvenience. The fundamental problem is that the tour was presented in a way that led me to believe I was booking a coordinated combined tour, when in reality it consisted of separate tours with different guides and a schedule that did not provide enough practical time to complete both as advertised. I booked this particular tour precisely to avoid the stress and rushing involved in coordinating two attractions myself. Instead, I ended up in exactly that situation — and only discovered the limitations and logistical problems after the tour had already begun. Customers should be given clear and accurate information before booking, particularly when the distinction between a single coordinated tour and two separate tours has a direct impact on whether the itinerary is physically achievable. If the listing had clearly stated that there would be two different guides, that we would have to make our own way between locations, and that there was insufficient time to comfortably complete the first tour before the second began, I would not have booked this experience.

Operator response

Dear Alondra_G, We sincerely apologize for the frustration and inconvenience caused. As previously explained, your booking confirmation clearly states that the experience consists of two separate tours with different meeting points, and guests are responsible for arriving at each departure point. The tour is specifically designed with the appropriate time frame between the two locations to allow guests to travel from one meeting point to the other. We understand that this may not have been the experience you expected, and we are sorry for any misunderstanding. However, as the relevant information was provided in the booking details, we are unfortunately unable to offer a refund.
