What a tour!
We were thrilled with the Sandwich Harbour tour yesterday with Okangala . The afternoon tour lasted about five hours. They took us in new modified Toyota Fortunas, which were very comfortable. There were several photo stops along the way, so we got to see the pink salt ponds and wildlife like flamingos. We were lucky enough to spot a hyena on the beach.
Then the fun began. We raced along the beach where the desert meets the sea, and eventually went into the dunes themselves. The highlight was the view of Sandwich Harbour from atop the windswept dunes.
We were equally impressed with the "snack" stop, which honestly was more like a gourmet meal. Our drivers, Axton and Alex, put out an amazing spread of salads, meats and fruits, along with sparkling wine, beer and soft drinks. All served on real plates with tablecloths, stemware and napkin rings. Amazing to have that in the middle of the desert.
Both gentlemen worked hard to create memories, and they helped us take the photos that will make our friends jealous. Axton was professional, informative, entertaining and an incredibly skilled driver. Don't hesitate to book this tour.

Exceptional Tour to Sandwich Harbour with Alex
My wife and I joined the Tour to Sandwich Harbour with Alex, and it was truly an outstanding experience from start to finish.
Alex was an exceptional guide – highly professional, extremely knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the unique landscape of Namibia. He explained the history, geology, and wildlife of the area in a clear and engaging way, while always making sure we felt safe and comfortable.
Driving through the dunes where the desert meets the Atlantic Ocean was absolutely breathtaking. Alex’s driving skills were impressive, and his confidence and calm manner made the adventure both exciting and relaxing at the same time. He also took great care to stop at the best viewpoints and gave us plenty of time to enjoy the scenery and take photos.
This tour was one of the absolute highlights of our trip.
We highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Namibia, and especially recommend Alex as a guide – professional, friendly, and truly excellent.

Five Stars
The day we spent touring with Alex was the highlight of my visit to Namibia. His wealth of knowledge, pride in showing off the region’s natural beauty, and some impressive driving skills made for a thoroughly enjoyable day. Also have to mention the food. I knew lunch was included, but I’d pretty much expected a sandwich and maybe a bottle of beer. He delivered a feast!

Great experience
Went with Alex, a lovely guide, really informative but relaxed. The scenery is stunning and driving over the dunes is really exhilarating. The lunch provided was excellent, even offered us oysters which were beautiful. Highly recommended.

Unreal, personalized tour . Perfect for couples
Walvis Bay, Namibia.
We booked a private tour for just the two of us. Catherine found Alex. on Trip Advisor .After meeting him we knew he was the one . On the way to Namibnaukluft Park we passed what I believe is where all the salt in The world is produced .
We saw a mountain range of salt, flamingos, seals, beaches of red sand and even a few Jackels.
Entering the park we were confronted the largest sand dunes we had ever seen.
The vistas from the top of those dunes was incredible. At the end of the day we were served a gourmet lunch, as he put it, “in his home.” On a side note, upon my request, Alex turned the SUV into a dune buggy and gave us an unbelievable ride through the towering dunes. If you ever find yourself in Walvis Bay, Namibia get up with him. Just a super nice guy and a great guide

Wildlife harassment
We were picked up from the cruise port in a nice SUV. Alex was knowledgeable and personable. We stopped to look closely at the sand and see the magnetic properties of the iron in the sand. Another time we stopped (our vehicle and one other); Alex said nothing to us but spent a long time digging in a sand bank. He finally pulled out a poor little gecko that he handed around for the tourists to hold and photograph. I don’t recommend this tour company because of the wildlife harassment. After a while we stopped on a beach where he said the picnic would be. I asked about a dune picnic and he said it was too hot. The picnic was miserable because we were swarmed with thousands of small flies. They were all over the food and got in the drinks. Very unpleasant. After that we drove into the dunes. We stopped several times for some wonderful photo ops. The drive through the dunes was beautiful.

Dear Becky
Thank you for your review we wished it was based on knowledge/ expertise and experience rather than assumptions and emotions. Our guides are trained, knowledgeable and have long experience in regards to handling, approach and working with wildlife and we have never harmed or harassed any wildlife that we encounter on our tours. We have no control over the weather, you unfortunately joined the tour on a hot east weather day and it is common to have sand flies in the area, an alternative was given to you to have your meal and drinks inside an air conditioned vehicle to which you declined. We also take into consideration that there were other guests on the same same tour who do not share the same views ironically.
We do respect your opinion as an individual guest! and wished your advice to the guide at the end of the tour and review was positive criticism rather than negative and damaging .
Thank you

Don't miss Walvis Bay!
Alex, our tour guide was great! The dunes were amazing and I felt safe the entire time even though it was a bit scary. They served a great spread of food, but our cruise ship discouraged us from eating while off the ship so I had vey little of the food and none of us tried the oysters they brought :-(

Wow what a day ! We arrived on a cruise and was picked up at the port as promised by Norman . We all had an amazing day and would highly recommend . From my first WhatsApp communication to the tour everything was as promised and first class . We even had our dietary needs catered for and enjoyed our picnic in the Dessert .

A great tour, right up there with the best anywhere
There are good tours and there are great tours. And this one firmly fits in the great category. Yes it helps that the sand dunes are breathtaking, that the views from the top of the dunes over the sea are stunning and that you cannot beat a drive along a beach with the sea only feet away. But to enjoy such wonderful delights you need excellent guides/drivers who not only know the terrain but also ensure you feel comfortable even when you are toppling off the top of a dune and descending down the slopes. It really was a brilliant experience and one we will never forget.
And then after driving the dunes we found a spot at the top of a dune looking over the sea where a champagne picnic was set up (part of the tour cost) which really was something really special. One of the highlights of all the travelling we’ve been so lucky to enjoy around the world.
With two cars with 4 guests in each we were able to enjoy a really personalised tour. You could never do it in a coach. You have to have expert guides. And the tour arrived back at exactly 5.30 as we had asked.
I cannot recommend this tour and Okangala Tours enough. I hope fellow travellers will enjoy this tour as much as we did. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.
