Explore one of Akihabara’s most iconic otaku landmarks—Radio Kaikan. Spanning multiple floors, it’s packed with model kits, trading cards, electronics, and anime collectibles. Your host will guide you to the best spots that align with your fandoms.
Step into the side streets of Sotokanda, where underground otaku culture thrives. From indie merchandise and fan-made goods to lesser-known hobby shops, this area reveals a more personal, off-the-radar side of Akihabara’s identity.

This is a private walking experience. Your host will meet you at your selected hotel, and the tour will begin on foot. If you’d prefer to meet at a central location instead, please choose the meeting point option. If your hotel isn’t on the list, simply select the central landmark option. Once you’ve booked, our Experience Planners will get in touch to confirm the meeting point and help with any final details to ensure a smooth and enjoyable start to your personalized tour. NO private vehicle is included. For longer distances, your host may suggest using public transport. Any transport costs can be settled on the day.

We were a family of four with two teenagers who love anime, manga and gundam. Our tour guide was Shoko and we met her at Akihabara station. It was our second day in Japan and haven’t learned the public transportation yet but it was easy enough to take a cab there. Shoko was amazing! Full of smiles and energy which is just what was needed while two teenagers were overloaded with all that there was to see. Great tour. Definitely recommend.

I recently took my first trip to Tokyo and stayed in Akihabara. I can't praise them enough! I booked this tour for the 23rd, received a prompt reply and they even started answering questions before the tour date. During the tour, they were very great at conversation, enough to pull an introvert such as me out of my shell, helped me find specific figured from a specific anime that aired years ago, and it only got better from there. Their ability to ask a few simple questions and plan a four-hour tour that was interesting, fun, and exciting the entire time speaks wonders, and the next time I visit, I will definitely hire again! I can't wait to pick up where we left off and see more of what the area has to offer. Thanks for a great time!

My husband and I are big fans of anime and Japanese culture. Thus we knew that we wanted to explore Akihabara. It can be pretty overwhelming for a first timer so having a personalized guide was incredibly helpful! I tend to do larger group tours but having a private guide to show us the ins and outs was amazing. Jordyn was knowledgeable, engaging and she provided us with a lot of insight and guidance. It was wonderful exploring through the eyes of a local. I loved that the tour company sent us questions prior to our tour to help guide our experience while also including their recommendations. We were able to take what we learned from the experience with us when we returned on our own to explore. I’d highly recommend this tour as well as any other of the City Unscripted tours as having a local guide really helps to navigate this wonderful country.
This company doesn’t know a thing about Otaku culture and they further insulted us by claiming to send a guide that knew something but she admitted she did not. They just take you to stores and the company cannot even help their guides with a list of shops and what they carry. May as well use google rather than waste your money on this British company that doesn’t care if they ruin your vacation. I even asked them for a refund before we took this tour and they assured me the guide knew about anime. All they will do is walk you to a store and ask you a bunch of questions to try to sell another tour.

There’s so much more to Otaku culture than shops and maid cafes and the aim of this experience is to have a local showing you places that would have been difficult to research and find on your own. I understand that you abandoned the experience before your host had the time to show you the places she had planned to take you to. We assigned a host who is a Tokyo local and passionate about Otaku culture and anime. She prepared an itinerary and suggested different options for you and did her best to meet your requirements. Leo is the perfect guide for this Otaku culture tour. I sent him information ahead of time about what I was interested in, and he customized an itinerary that went way beyond my expectations. He took me through several of the top nerd sites in both Akhihabara and Harajuku. He also provided cultural and historical explanations throughout the tour. It’s as If a good friend took you around town. Jordyn speaks perfect Japanese, English and French, knows a lot of fun places to go and Will go out of her way to make this a truly memorable experience! Fun and easy to talk to and will make you feel welcome in Tokyo even if you don’t speak a word of Japanese.
