This is where our tour starts. There are two important monuments in Klarov. Memorial to the Second Resistance and Winged Lion Memorial. We will tell you how Czechoslovakia gained its independence in the First World War, why it was one of the first countries Hitler occupied and what happened to Czechoslovak soldiers during the WW2.
You will learn the fate of Czech Jewish people, how many of them managed to emigrate and what happened to those who didn't.
Here, next to the Old Town Hall we will tell the story of the Prague Uprising and explain how the end of WW2 set the stage for the rise of Communism in Czechoslovakia.
What happened after communism started in Czechoslovakia? Why did Warsaw Pact armies invade Czechoslovakia in 1968? And where was the place of Jan Palach's self-immolation?
Here you will see the Rotating Head of Kafka, we will talk about art during Communism.
You will learn here about the Velvet Revolution and the fall of communism.
We'll introduce to you Vaclav Havel, the first president of Czechoslovakia after the fall of communism and will explain his role during the Velvet Revolution
We'll show you the Dancing House and the the story of Valentine's Day bombing.
We will finish the tour with the story of the most important achievement of Czechoslovak resistance during WW2. Operation Anthropoid.

A fantastic tour. Elias was amazing, he had a great presentation style and gave the perfect amount of information to inform but not overwhelm. An excellent tour which told me things I never would have learnt about otherwise, highly recommend!
A fantastic 3-hour walking tour that started from 1938 and through the fall of Communism in 1989 and beyond. Our guide, Elias, was a passionate and incredible storyteller! His explanations were captivating, and I felt I learned so much from the Czech perspective about 20th-century history. The tour ends at the anthropoid crypt at Svt Cyril & Methodius Church. A must-do tour with a truly professional guide, a coffee stop mid-way, and the perfect pace.

This tour was OUTSTANDING!!! The guide was extremely knowledgeable and told us all sorts of historical facts and stories. We walked around the city for 3.5 hours and saw things that we had previously walked by but had not even noticed. After taking this tour, I felt like I really saw the city. It dives deep into the history and culture, unlike other tours that just scratch the surface and rush you through. Just be prepared to walk a lot. One warning, the map provided by the Viator app to the tour starting location is inaccurate. It had us go to the square behind the Metro Cafe. The correcting meeting point was in front of the Metro Cafe. We almost missed our tour because of this. Overall, a fantastic tour. 10 out of 10.

We provide both a map location and additional meeting point instructions, which we recommend checking together. Unfortunately, Prague’s large historic buildings and palaces can sometimes make map locations less precise, even when the street address is correct. In this case, you were at the correct address, but just a few meters away from the guide, on the opposite side of the wall. We’ve contacted Viator about this issue several times, but removing the street address seems to create even more confusion. We’ll continue looking for a better solution and will also review how we can make the additional meeting point information more visible and easier to follow. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we’re glad you still had such a fantastic experience with us! ❤️
