My class is held in a quiet residential neighborhood, just 15 minutes by train or car from central Tokyo. My family (2 adults + 2 17 year olds) was on our first trip to Japan and wanted to experience as much of the culture as possible while also enjoying our love of food. Mochi is a favorite of our daughter and this class was such a fun break for all of us. Being welcomed into Satoko's home was really special and we enjoyed the one on one connection. In additon to guiding us in making beautiful and delicious treats, she provided us with great information on Wagashi. We left understanding the cultural and season significance of the ingredients and when the different types of sweets are prepared and enjoyed. We also gained the confidence to try our hand at making our own treats after returning home!
Thank you so much for your wonderful and thoughtful review! It was such a pleasure welcoming your lovely family into my home, and I truly enjoyed spending that special time with all of you. I’m especially happy that you enjoyed not only making and tasting mochi, but also learning about the culture, seasons, and traditions behind wagashi. I hope you have lots of fun recreating them back home! Thank you again for choosing my class, and I hope to welcome you all again someday. And please say hello to "Mochi", your lovely cat, from me!

I really enjoyed this traditional Japanese dessert making class. The instructor was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the class easy to follow. I’m not usually very good at baking, but my desserts turned out beautiful! I highly recommend this class to anyone interested in Japanese desserts and the cultural significance behind them! I had such a fulfilling time at this class! Satoko, the instructor, taught us not only the joy of making Wagashi but also the history behind it, which made the experience so much richer. Everything ran smoothly, and we even got to whisk our own matcha, which I loved. She also gave us tips on how to take Instagram-worthy photos and was super supportive when we wanted to snap pictures, so I’d especially recommend this to younger visitors. It was an amazing experience!
