Unforgettable Experience

The Knik Glacier Hike & Swim was an unreal, once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will never forget! From the moment i checked in, the entire team was absolutely awesome. Everyone was professional, friendly, welcoming, and made us feel comfortable and excited from start to finish. The helicopter ride itself was incredible, and our pilot was fantastic. Seeing the glacier from above was breathtaking, but nothing could have prepared me for actually stepping onto the glacier, walking through ice caves and then diving into that incredible blue glacier pool. It was absolutely surreal! This was so much more than a tour—it was an adventure and a memory I will treasure forever. The scenery, the experience, and especially the amazing team made it truly unforgettable. That I we saw a bear and moose with a calf on the journey 💙 If you’re considering doing the Knik Glacier Hike & Swim, DO IT! You won’t regret it. 🩵❄️🚁

Excellent experience!!!

It was incredible! I proposed to my girlfriend in a 32° swimming hole on a glacier. The tour guides (especially Mia) took great pictures and helped us make the moment unforgettable!

Not highly recommended

Overpriced! Based on the price, pictures and description of this tour, we had high expectations before. Yet, it turned out overpriced from my perspective. First of all, the time that you would be in the helicopter is less than 20 minutes total, the round-trip. In addition, the helicopter was being driven in high speed, so we couldn’t see the glacier clearly, which was so different from any helicopter sightseeing tours that I had. After landing, it took about 20 minutes to put on the drysuit, gloves and helmet. Then, we were guided to walk around the glacier about 20mins. I thought we would explore the glacier river in the first place based on the pictures that they show on the webpage, yet we were guided to walk around next to the blue pool that we landed only. After walking, we spent about 30 minutes in the blue pool. As you need to wear a thick gloves when you are the blue pool, you can’t operate your cellphone or camera. Therefore, we put our phones away and we had to rely on our guides to take pictures or video for us. When we were in the pool, one of the guides was assigned to take video and pictures for us. And I noticed that she spent less than 10 minutes doing this job. After that, she just walked around the pool as the other guide did. After swimming and taking off the drysuit, she sent us the pictures and videos by Airdrop, including 5 videos and 13 photos, one of the photos is her Venmo! These photos and videos are technically recording our whole group, 4 people, the other two guests are not my friends! She didn’t take a photo for each person, not to mention to record a video. Wait, she did help my friend to take 5 photos, but no one could recognize my friend if my friend shows the pictures to others . Please see attached later. People who spend $870 on this 2 hours trip do not only want to swim in the glacier pool, but also want to have clear pictures and videos for memories! The last but not the least, the operator they sent us a text message one day before the trip to remind us that, “A gratuity of 5-10% of the trip cost per guide (2 guides per trip) is generally considered the industry standard.” Although we have used Viator and Exp***a to book tour activities for years, it’s our first time to hear this standard. $870*5-10%*2? Are these two guides aware of this and still taking pictures and videos with that attitude? Even though we were upset about this trip, we still left 40 dollars for the male guide as he did help us take some pictures based on our request after swimming and 20 dollars for the female guide in the envelopes. I don’t want to mention their names on the review and I have to say it doesn’t worth the bucks.

Amazing ❤️

Hands down one of the best experiences of our Alaska trip! If you’re visiting Anchorage, this is an absolute must-do. Our guides, Tavel and Simon, were incredible from start to finish. They were super friendly, patient, and helpful, and what we loved most was how much freedom they gave us to decide how we wanted to experience the tour. It never felt rushed or overly structured—they really made the experience feel like our own adventure. Throughout the hike, they helped us carry our gear and took the time to explain the glaciers, the landscape, and everything we were seeing along the way. They were knowledgeable but also made everything fun and easygoing. And a special shoutout to them for capturing some absolutely incredible videos of our glacier jumps! Those videos are easily some of our favorite memories from the entire trip. The activity is definitely a little on the expensive side, but after experiencing it, I can confidently say it was worth every penny. The combination of the glacier, the adventure, the scenery, and especially the amazing guides made it unforgettable. If I ever get the chance, I would do this all over again in the blink of an eye. 100% recommended!

Not as adverised

The water was no clear and the spot did not look anything like the photos. Cannot recommend. Felt like a pond surrounded by rocks. Tour guides kept asking us what to do - there was no agenda. - it was all very odd.

Operator response

Thank you again for sharing your feedback — we did see your other review as well. We’re sorry to hear the tour didn’t meet your expectations, and we truly appreciate your feedback. It sounds like your group paddled in Gannett Valley — a stunning but rugged area where the melt pools are much larger and surrounded by glacial rock and mountains. Because of this, the water can appear darker and less vibrant than the smaller, bright-blue pools featured in some of our photos. As for the structure of the experience — glacier paddleboarding is meant to be a flexible and immersive activity. After a safety orientation and getting everyone comfortable on the boards, our guides aim to let guests explore the area at a relaxed pace. It’s less about a set agenda and more about enjoying the rare opportunity to paddle in such an extraordinary environment. That said, your comments are valuable and will be shared with our team. We hope we’ll have the chance to welcome you back and provide a different perspective on this ever-changing landscape.

A must do experience for the adventurous.

This was one of those buckets list activities. A helicopter flight over the beautiful Knik Glacier, a glacial hike through canyons, waterfalls and rivers and then a swim in a pristine blue glacial pool. Simply stunning.
