Nice glacier tour

Our driver, Taylor Lou, was great! He was friendly and on time. The trip was longer than expected due to road construction. Our hike guide was good too. We had been on another glacier hike before and feel this one was better. The trip information said that snacks and water would be provided, but we were not offered any.

This is such a beautiful...

This is such a beautiful experience. Our day started with our driver, Kevin who picked us up at our hotel. We stopped by a place to grab lunch to either eat there or along the way. Our drive was pleasant. Kevin is awesome! We learned about Alaska and had some great conversations during our two hour ride. Now, the hike, wow! What an awesome experience. We stopped a lot to take pictures and the memories in. It was safe and absolutely gorgeous! If you’re in the area, this is a must do! Just absolutely breathtaking and amazing experience!

Awesome day and great guides

We had a great time on our excursion. Kevin was a great communicator and prepared us well ahead of the trip. Day of, he was on time, had packed great snacks for us, and kept us informed of great info and history on the beautiful drive. We had time to grab lunch to eat at the site and bathroom breaks for those that needed it. The hike itself was great, and Sophie was an awesome guide. We learned a lot and loved our visit. It would be great to do it in winter.

One of the Best Glacier Hiking Experiences in Alaska

Matanuska Glacier was one of my favorite experiences on this trip to Alaska, and I thought it was the most recommended glacier hike. It's about a two-hour drive from Anchorage and very convenient. It's also one of the few large glaciers in the United States that can do a year-round glacier hike, so there's an opportunity to actually walk up to it no matter what season. There are no fixed hiking routes because the glaciers move slowly every day and the terrain changes constantly. Guides plan the safest and most suitable route based on the ice conditions of the day, so each experience is unique. Throughout the trip, guides patiently explain how glaciers form, their structure and safety, allowing people to not only enjoy the views but also learn a lot about them. Along the way, we got up close and personal with azure ice cracks, spectacular ice textures, crystal clear ice caves and crystal-clear glacial meltwater. Walking on a glacier hundreds of metres thick, you see natural landscapes that have been formed over thousands of years and give a deep sense of the power of nature. My favorite part is being able to taste natural glacial melt water and ice for over a century. The icy water is cold and pure, with a very sweet taste that makes the whole experience even more special. At the end of the trip, the guide also takes you through a natural glacier mud mask, an interesting little segment that makes everyone laugh and brings the journey to a perfect conclusion. The whole trip was very professional, from equipment and safety instructions to care along the way. Although the whole journey needs to be on foot, it's not difficult and most people can easily do it by following the guide slowly. If you're in Alaska and want to really step on the glacier and get up close and personal with its spectacular beauty, I highly recommend Matanuska Glacier. This is definitely one of the most memorable and rewarding activities I've ever had to experience on my entire Alaskan journey. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
