Itinerary
60 min
Our journey begins with a seamless pick-up in the cruise ship port of Cherbourg, where our experienced guide will meet you at the cruise port or at your hotel.
Sainte-Mere-Eglise
Pass by
Place that holds a special place in history as one of the first towns liberated during D-Day in World War II. Known for its iconic church, visitors are captivated by the story of paratrooper John Steele, whose parachute became entangled on the church steeple during the Allied invasion.
We will stop at a local bakery there for you to pick up food, but you are welcome to bring your own meal, especially if you have specific dietary needs or restrictions
Omaha Beach
120 min
One of the most poignant stops on this tour is Omaha Beach, infamously known as "Bloody Omaha." It was one of the main landing points during the D-Day invasion of Normandy in World War II and saw some of the most intense fighting of the campaign. Today, it serves as a powerful reminder of the bravery and sacrifices made by Allied forces during one of the most significant military operations in history. Visitors will have the opportunity to walk along the beach, reflect on the events that took place there, and pay their respects.
120 min
Our next stop on this solemn journey is the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. Set amidst serene surroundings, this sacred site serves as the final resting place for over 9,000 American soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Normandy invasion.
Walking among the perfectly aligned rows of white crosses and Stars of David, the magnitude of the sacrifice made by the Allies becomes apparent. Each marker represents a life cut short in the pursuit of freedom, a reminder of the profound impact of war.
Take a moment of reflection at the Memorial Chapel, a solemn tribute to the fallen. Here, you can pay your respects, offering gratitude for the bravery and selflessness displayed by these remarkable individuals. The meticulously maintained grounds and the tranquil atmosphere create a space for contemplation and remembrance.
Pointe du Hoc
60 min
At the rugged cliffs of Pointe du Hoc, visitors are immediately transported to a pivotal moment during the D-Day landings of World War II. This prominent headland situated between Utah and Omaha Beach was a strategic German defense post, with fortified positions, including artillery batteries that threatened Allied forces. On June 6, 1944, U.S. Army Rangers bravely scaled these 100-foot cliffs under intense enemy fire to neutralize the position, a feat of courage that played a crucial role in the success of the Normandy invasion. Today, the site stands as a testament to their bravery, with bomb craters, destroyed bunkers, and a monument honoring the Rangers' sacrifices. As you walk among the ruins, the weight of history is palpable, offering a deep and humbling reflection on the monumental events that took place here.
60 min
As we conclude our memorable journey, we will embark on the drive back to Cherbourg, our final destination. Relax and reflect on the profound experiences and historical insights gained throughout the tour, as the picturesque landscapes of Normandy pass by.
During the return journey, take a moment to contemplate the significance of the D-Day Landing sites and the remarkable bravery of the American forces. Let the memories of the hallowed grounds, the stories of heroism, and the indomitable spirit of those who fought for freedom resonate within you.

Must see
This was a great tour. I felt humbled and moved to visit the places where many have given their ultimate sacrifice for us to have the freedom we enjoy today.
Raphaelle was just the ultimate guide. Very passionate about the history the she was sharing with us. Very knowledgeable. She came with her microphone and her booklet of pictures. She was well organized. Kept us in line with the schedule. Very considerate with the other guides/ tours around us.
Our driver was awesome too. Very smooth drive. Always smiling as he greeted us back into the bus.

Great tour of DDay historic sites
Tour covers a lot of ground. Our guide Norman and driver Patrick were both excellent. Both were extremely courteous and Norman was a wealth of knowledge and explained things extremely well.
Pickup and drop off we're efficient and easy, with our bus right next to those of the cruise ship tours. Don't miss this tour... highly recommended!

Still, great.
Overall, a great tour but would have loved to include the visitor center at the American Cemetery. I have been there before and it is exceptional. Rearranging the time allocated at each place and including the visitor center in the itinerary would have taken it from good to great.
Operator response
Dear Nancy,
Thank you for your feedback! We’re very happy that you enjoyed the tour overall. At the American Cemetery, guests have free time during which they may visit the Visitor Center independently. As individual interests vary, we allow guests to decide how they wish to use this time rather than including a guided visit inside the center. We appreciate your suggestion and hope the tour still provided a meaningful D-Day experience.
Kind Regards,
Julia

We had a fantastic tour...
We had a fantastic tour with Norman and our bus driver Patrick. We booked it as a shore excursion and the meeting place was right outside the cruise terminal in Cherbourg and made it back to the ship in plenty of time. We were able to view the 11:30 wreath ceremony at the American Cemetery and it was very moving. I would highly recommend this tour.

Interesting excursion
Interesting excursion to the D-Day landing beaches. The guide was really competent and friendly. Be careful, however: most of the participants are foreign tourists from cruise ships docking in Cherbourg. This day trip departing from a French city to French sites and with a French guide is therefore in English. You must know this when buying the ticket if you are a French tourist in Cherbourg but not a cruise participant. And the meeting point you are given in this case is outside the cruise terminal parking lot, for security reasons. Departure is a bit complicated, therefore, but once on the bus, the day is very pleasant if the explanations in English do not bother you.
Operator response
Hello!
Thank you very much for your feedback, Christophe. We are delighted that you enjoyed your day visiting the D-Day beaches, as well as the knowledge and friendliness of our guide.
This tour is primarily designed for international cruise passengers and is therefore conducted in English. For guests who are not arriving directly from the cruise terminal, the meeting point is also located outside the restricted port area, which can make the departure point a little less intuitive to find.
We appreciate your comment and are very glad to hear that, once on board, you had a very enjoyable day.
