Is Georgia the most aesthetically "dark fantasy" country in the world?

A day trip definitely one for the books! We were picked up from downtown Tbilisi with two items on the agenda: Mtskheta and Didgori. Little did we know we would be blessed with one of the most beautiful sights of rolling hills, blue skies and meandering rivers. Georgia really is a stunning country. Personally, I LOVED Didgori. Its unlike anything Ive seen before and ofc, the history behind it carries so much weight too. Both landmarks are free of charge btw. Our guide, Ira, is literally a walking encyclopedia. The A-Z of Georgian history? He's got everything covered. He's professional, polite, friendly and has great banter. I suggest starting the trip from max 10 am, so you'll arrive mid morning at Mtskheta and midday at Didgori. The crowds are still pretty manageable, you can still get snaps with no people in the frame. Crowds start pouring after lunch. Recommended for: couples, friends or adult-only families (drive might be too long for an impatient kid)

One of the Best Tours You Should Definitely Experience

I had a wonderful experience on the Didgori Battle Memorial and Mtskheta half-day tour. Everything was great from start to finish. I would especially like to highlight our guide, Mindia, who is a true professional. He shared many interesting stories about the history of Georgia and the places we visited, and made the whole trip very engaging, warm, and enjoyable. Another thing I really appreciated was that Mindia took amazing photos of me and my sister, which made the experience even more memorable for us. We truly enjoyed the trip and had a great time. The car was new, clean, and comfortable, so the whole journey felt very pleasant and well organized. Overall, everything was excellent, and I would definitely recommend this tour.

A dream of a tour

One of my favorite tours I’ve ever taken. The scenery was something out of my dreams and we got an in depth history lesson that will stick with us for a while. This tour is a great way to kick off your trip to Georgia. Only took up a small chunk of time yet was worth every minute. ALSO GREAT FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS!!!

Great trip to Didgori and Jvari church

We had a great time with Mindia our tour guide. He was friendly, gave good information on all of the sites we visited, and answered any other questions we had about Georgia. Personalized the experience with us, let us go at our own pace, and helped the whole way as we needed to learn and interact. The sites at Didgori and the jvari church as well as the other places we were able to stop were great. All 4 of us from our group would recommend

Awesome private tour!

Today we did a private tour and we had a really great experience. I booked it the evening before, and he contacted me on WhatsApp right away to confirm everything and let me know he would pick me up directly at the hotel, which was very convenient!! The guide was kind and friendly from the beginning and explained many interesting things without ever being overwhelming or pushy. One thing we really appreciated was the flexibility with time: there was no rush at all, and we could take as much time as we wanted to enjoy each place, which is not something you always get. He was always polite, easygoing and professional, but at the same time very relaxed — not one of those guides who stay on top of you the whole time. A very positive experience. I would definitely recommend it 👍

On top of that, Ira gave us excellent recommendations for local food and wines, which made our stay even more memorable. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend.

Great Time

Unfortunately, our tour group was unable to make the monument due to snow. Just be aware that during the winter this may be a likely possibility. That said, my buddy and I had a great time. Mindia, our tour guide, was fantastic. He made a valiant (and I mean valiant) effort to drive up the mountain to Didgori. However, when the snow got waist deep, he had to shovel the car out of the snow, and we had to turn around. As an alternative, we visited Mtsheka and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Overall, had a great time despite not making Didgori.

A Trip to Snowy Georgian Mountains

The trip was amazing from the start. Our tour guide Ira was a wonderful companion to spend this time in beautiful mountain landscapes or Georgia. His knowledge of the historical landmarks were eye opening and really educative. Starting with the Jvari Monastery, with its amazing story and captivating view; ending with Didgori, a heroic victory against all odds; everything was better than imaginable. Weather was also really appropriate for a trip like this! There is one more reason now to visit Georgia again!
