Enjoy the natural beauty of Coastal Sequoias! Muir Woods National Monument is a National Monument named after naturalist John Muir. It is located on Mount Tamalpais near the Pacific coast in SW Marin County and is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, just 12 miles (19 km) north of SF. It protects 554 acres (224 ha) of which 240 acres (97 ha) are old growth coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) forests, the tallest living objects on Earth. Due to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, the forest is regularly shrouded in a coastal marine layer fog. It remains cool and moist year-round with daytime temperatures averaging between 40 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit (4 to 21 °C). Millions of years ago ancestors of redwood and sequoia trees grew throughout North America. Today, the Sequoia sempervirens can be found only in a narrow, cool coastal belt from Monterey County, California, in the south to Oregon in the north.

An Exceptional San Francisco Experience with A Taste of San Francisco
A friend recommended A Taste of San Francisco to us, and I am so glad she did. From the very first phone call to the final drop-off at our hotel, A Taste of San Francisco took care of our family of seven in an extremely professional and personal way, always making us feel that we were in very good hands.
They were consistently on time for every pickup, activity, and drop off, and they went above and beyond to accommodate our family’s needs and wishes. From our very first conversation, when we explained what we most wanted to see and experience, they put their 30+ years of knowledge and experience to work and created an itinerary specifically tailored to our family. They also incorporated wonderful tours, experiences, and surprises that we would never have discovered on our own.
As a result, we left San Francisco feeling that we had gained a true understanding of the city, its culture, history, and character, while also completely accomplishing everything we had hoped to experience.
Taste of San Francisco did much more than provide tours. They organized our hotels, National Park entrance tickets, attractions, special tours, transportation, and all the details in between. We simply put our trip in the hands of their experienced team, and they delivered far beyond our expectations.
On our first day, Taste of San Francisco picked us up at our hotel for a comprehensive city tour with an extremely knowledgeable guide who brought the history of San Francisco to life in a fun, engaging, and educational way.
On days two and three, we traveled to Yosemite National Park. The hotel, park arrangements, transportation, and guidance were superb. Everything was perfectly structured and organized, allowing us to simply enjoy the experience without having to worry about the logistics.
On our fourth and final day, they organized an unforgettable visit to Alcatraz, Muir Woods National Monument, and the beautiful town of Sausalito. Once again, everything was exceptionally well organized, and our guides were wonderful, knowledgeable, professional, and truly passionate about what they do. In fact, the guides were one of the highlights of the entire experience.
If you are looking for a company to help you plan a comprehensive San Francisco trip and truly get to know the city and its surroundings, I highly recommend Taste of San Francisco. Their knowledge, professionalism, attention to detail, and personalized service are truly top-tier.
They gave us something incredibly valuable: the peace of mind to travel with confidence, knowing that every detail was being taken care of.
Thank you, Taste of San Francisco, for making our family trip such a memorable experience. We could not have asked for a better way to discover San Francisco!

This wa a great tour!
This was a fantastic tour. It was informative andenjoyable. The tour guide went out of his way for us. I was using a walker which could have been awkward, but he made it as easy as possible. It was also interesting to learn of the history of John Muir, Sausalito and San Francisco. I would highly recommend!

Great, but only got to do half.
We had an excellent tour of Muir Woods and Salsalito with Buddy today. There was some sort of confusion about our booking. We were on a cruise ship and only had a certain amount of time. When I booked our tour, it said it was for four hours, but the total tour was almost 9. We ended up not being able to do the city portion of the tour, but we still had a great day.

Stellar Day with Buddy!
Excellent tour with a well informed and humorous guide, Buddy. He was surely my buddy as I left personal items on the passenger seat and he was nice enough to bring them back to my hotel.

Beautiful day
Well organized. Excellent communication from Peter, our tour guide.
I think we spent the right amount of time in Muir Woods. We took the ferry back to San Francisco. Peter showed us exactly how to do that.
