Barcelona to Montserrat Monastery: Tour, Transfers & Basilica

Description
Escape the bustle of Barcelona with a guided bus tour to the breathtaking Montserrat mountains. Meet your guide in the city center and enjoy a short, scenic bus ride to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival, explore the stunning mountainside monastery and learn its rich history. The tour ends with an included ticket to the basilica. After which you then have your 3 hours free time: hike the hills, savour a buffet lunch with panoramic views, or visit the museum. We recommend taking the funicular (extra cost) for unforgettable vistas. After your adventure, return to Barcelona in the afternoon, 6 hours after departure. Be aware that in the summer months the transport is normally a coach, and in the winter is usually a minibus. Please note: "Monastery" refers to the entire complex, not just where monks live. This is included in the tour "Basilica" (literal church interior) is included "Throne Room" with the Black Madonna is not included.

We did the guided tour with Marc. He was fun and had a lot of great information about the sites. Our trip provided us with 2 hours of free time which was great. There is dining, hiking, plenty of places to to sit and enjoy the views, learn about the history, a beautiful Church, Montesory, shopping, cable car and more. We really enjoyed talking the funicular rail to the top of the next peak and hiked back down to the Montesory. It is paved but can be steep in areas. Glad we were going down not up. Once back to the small village with the Montesory we relaxed and enjoyed some food and a drinks. This took the full 2 hours and we went a enjoyable pace stopping and taking photos and enjoying the views. We finished this tour visiting the beautiful church and riding back in a comfortable large air-conditioned bus. I would recommend this trip. Beautiful, peaceful, fun, with interesting stories and facts.
Meeting spot was easy to find and the coach bus was excellent. Our tour guide Vachonne was very good and did a good job sharing information before we arrived. For the price you can’t beat this trip!
Great tour. They got us to Montserrat and back to Barcelona safely and in a timely manner. Our guide Maria was friendly and knowledgeable. Had a great time!
Depending on the time of the year, it can be quite hot up in the mountains. The hikes are gorgeous, but might be a bit strenuous. Definitely wear comfortable shoes, and bring water.
Amazing tour! Marc was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable in Montserrat and also Barcelona + Catalonia region. Thank you!
Not knowing much about Montserrat prior to coming to Barcelona, I did not know what to expect. But after taking the tour it was well worth it for the hiking on its own. You get a great history from the guide on the way up, very knowledgeable on Spanish History. Once there it is minimal interaction with the guide in touring the basillaca, which gives you almost 3 hours to explore and hope on your own. After getting excellent hiking recommendations from him. And back just after 3 in time for a siesta and Tapas!
It was a smooth and safe travel from the meeting place to Montserrat Mountain, thanks to our Coach driver. It was very informative tour thanks to our guide Siobhan also helpful to give us some tips for other places to visit and best place to eat Paella around Barcelona. Unfortunately (2) two hours free times to look around the Montserrat is not enough as there’s a lot to see around the mountain. Also we did not managed to got closer to see the Black Madonna. But overall it was a pleasant experience with an amazing view of the mountain and a beautiful interior insides the Basilica. Definitely 💯 % recommend to visit. But avoid summertime as weather extremely heatwave ☀️ unless you’re happy to have a tan or burned skin😁
Great experience. Beautiful place. You have 3 hours on your own here so do some research in advance on how to spend your time. We did the art museum which was really nice. There's plenty of dining options on site as well. Francisco was very knowledgeable and informative. Id definitely recommend the tour
Recommend a day trip to Montserrat, beautiful place, tour guide Siobhan gave lots of history in the bus about Barcelona and Montserrat in an interesting fun way! Thank you Siobhan! Regards from Skelmorlie
The excursion was highly worthwhile, and the allocated free time was perfectly balanced. As a minor recommendation to further enhance the experience, providing a map overlay of the walking trails on the bus would be highly beneficial. Utilizing an aerial view, such as Google Earth, with the routes color-coded (green, orange, and red) to indicate difficulty or duration would allow guests to plan their routes efficiently before arrival. I believe guests could take a picture and use it.
