Awesome Guide. Very kind and helpful. Knowledgeable of the area and had great recommendations. Would highly recommend this guide.
This was such a special tour. Such a blessing to get away from the crowds! Our guide Juan was so good - engaging, knowledgeable, kind and careful to ensure everyone was doing well. This ride is significant but not that long, but there are a few scrambles up and down. If you have bad knees or no experience hiking, it may be a challenge. But the views are awesome and unique. I suspect this will be our fave tour of this week. So worthwhile!
Great experience. A nice hike with a decent amount of incline. Bring some good shoes, water, and a snack. Guide was great!
I choose this particular experience because of the description of the hike. Instead of an aggressive hike we took the funicular up. Our guide John was very good and walked us around the monastery to many different views. When asked about the change between the description of the hike and the actual hike he said that was decided by Catalan trails for the past few months. If that was the case the description should have indicated an easy hike around the monastery .
Great tour! The focus is definitely more on the hike but you have plenty of time to see the church as well.
Juan was a fantastic guide. He’s so knowledgeable about hiking and the mountains of Spain. It was so interesting talking to him about his different adventures and outdoor sports. Our group had a wide range of hiking ability - I was definitely the weakest link. But he never made me feel like I was dragging down the group or making us late with our time schedule. He was very supportive of my slow progress. All that said, I was under the impression that this was an easy to moderate hike. Ehh, I would say it’s solidly a moderate hike. Pretty steep going up and I was really nervous about all the stairs going down - very proud that I finished it.
Our tour guide, Juan, was so knowledgeable and made our experience a great one! He showed us around the beautiful monastery and expertly guided us through a wonderful hike.
A great experience. Our guide Ramon was the best. Super knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and loved being there on the trails. He was well versed in the history of Montserrat and surrounding areas including Barcelona. His experience overseas gave him a very strong handle of English allowing him to easily communicate with our group. It was definitely a challenging hike. The incline is significant at parts and pace can be challenging if the rest of your group is fast. But it was a very good sweat and enjoyed being with nature. The monastery history was interesting. It was fascinating how early hermits settled the mountain which eventually led to consolidation and eventual formation of the monastery. The market on the outside was great and offered numerous free samples. I would definitely recommend this to anyone coming to Barcelona.
We had a great experience and this was one of my favorite days on our trip to Spain. Our guide was great and so nice. He stopped to take breaks when we needed. The hike is a little steep, but not too bad if you were in decent shape. It was really amazing to see the views from all the different angles. I would recommend this to anyone.
Worth taking a day to go outside of Barcelona to see these beautiful mountains and the surrounding area the tour guide was very knowledgeable about the historical sites the hiking trails, the local nature and history of the area 10 out of 10 recommend.
