Joaquin was a great guide. He was very personable and a good time. He shared a lot of information about the history of Cusco, answered all of our questions in great detail, and made a great effort to ensure everyone in the group got what they wanted out of the experience. Nerio and Hugo did a great job with the food and drinks and had us well fed for the trek. Admission to Machu Picchu was seamless and transportation throughout was great. Overall a great experience.
We made a very good choice in picking SAM Travel for our Salkantay experience. Everything went smoothly, from the hotel pickup to the final drop off. I'm especially grateful that they even arranged a small celebration for my partner's birthday. Our guide, Gruber, also did an excellent job guiding us through the entire experience.
We had an amazing trip! Our Guide Grober was excellent, kind and funny, throughout all trek keeping us motivated while showing us the beautiful nature and landmarks around Salkantay and at Machu Picchu. Can very well recommend!
It was a great experience with the Salkantay pass being my favourite day. It was also super useful that our Machu Picchu tickets was for 6 am, which meant minimum waiting time and crowds. The food was great throughout the trek and the guide, Grobert, was super cool.

This greatly exceeded my expectations. We felt so well taken care of–got the best Machu Picchu circuit experience, best views of the trek, and great food the whole time. Carlos & Jimmy (our guides) made sure we had the best experience!! We had a very large group of 13 but it still felt very logistically easy because of Sam travel. I highly recommend them!!
Our friends did the 4D3N Salkantay Trek in October 2026. Our guides, Carlos and Jimmy, along with the rest of the staff were so friendly throughout the whole trek. The foods by the chefs were so delicious and fueled us well for the entire trip. The accommodation such as the domes were soo nice as well! Thanks so much for the guides and team for making the trip to Machu Picchu amazing!!

Carlos and Jimmy did a great job leading us through the entire 4 day trek. The hikes at high altitude were challenging for sure but they found a good balance of challenging us and allowing us to set the pace. Big fans of them as tour guides! All admissions to macchu picchu and transportation were included!
