The longest running surf school in Lahaina, Goofy Foot was established in Lahaina, Maui in April, 1994 by the Owner/Instructor Tim Sherer to perpetuate his relationship with Mother Ocean and to teach the ancient Hawaiian sport of surfing.
At Goofy Foot Surf School we feel it is a privilege to teach surfing. Our primary focus is on giving each student the best and safest surfing experience possible. Brilliant!
Perfect experience!
They knew exactly what they were doing. Gave a lot of attention to all the kids and had all three surfing kids loved the skills and delivery from the Coach.

Awesome experience
Great and easy. The instructor was great. I actually was able to surf a wave with some help. Any level can do it. Very accommodating and happy to help the local economy. Their school was lost in the Lahaina fire.

Amazing Instructors and Experience
Such an incredible experience. We had Kalani, Hawea, and Fabio as our instructors and they were amazing. Hawea stayed with our 5 year old and for his private lesson and did such a great job that my son didn't want to leave. My husband, 9 year old son, and I had the help of Kalani and Fabio and they were extremely patient and gave us the best advice since we were all beginners. Definitely recommend them, especially if you have younger kids!

Great for 5-year-old!
Booked 2 private lessons for my 12, 9, and 5 year olds. The youngest had to have 1 instructor to himself. I was expecting it to be a throwaway babysitting session, which I paid for so he wouldn't feel left out, but it was surprisingly worth it. His instructor Kelani basically surfed in tandem with him, shuttling them back and forth on the big board. I did not envy the workout, paddling back out into the ocean with my son happily perched at the front of the board like a big dog. After two hours, my son proclaimed, "We did 18 runs!" I made sure to tip the instructor. If you're on the fence about booking this for a younger kid, I highly recommend it!

Best Surf School in Maui!
Javier, Fabio and Goofy Foot Surf School came highly recommended by all of the locals we asked! They did not disappoint and had my 15 and 16 year old up quickly. They loved their experience and said Javier is their favorite surf instructor out of all the lessons they have done over the years. Thanks Goofy Foot for a great experience!! Javier was great!

Amazing time, yet again!!
This is our second year with Goofy Foot Surf School, and Curran (spelling may be off!) and his team have exceeded our expectations once again! We book private lessons for our 6-year-old son, and the personalized attention he receives is nothing short of exceptional. The instructors strike the perfect balance between fun and focused, encouraging him to work hard while ensuring he thoroughly enjoys the experience.
What sets Goofy Foot apart is their flexibility—whether you want to maximize your time with an immersive session or just relax and enjoy the moment, there’s no pressure either way. The entire experience is seamless, engaging, and 100% fun for everyone involved.

Goofy Foot got us hooked on surfing
Goofy Foot is amazing. We've done lessons now through them across two trips for our little guys. They are hooked. Awesome instructors with a great rapport for ensuring it is fun for the kids so it sticks. We will continue to work through Fabio each trip out as the kids' skill level develops.

A family of experience to remember!
Such an amazing experience as a family (mom, dad, and three kids under 14)! The communication was great and the beach choice perfect. Cody is a knowledgeable and encouraging instructor. No matter what your experience, level Goody Foot will ensure you have a great experience! Kids begged to surf everyday after our lesson. Thank you for the memories and amazing photos!!!

Amazing lesson for a young surfer!
The Goofy Foot team gave an amazing lesson to my 8-year-old, as well as our friends. Communication was great, confirming location for the lesson the night before and again in the morning. My son got two solid hours of wave riding and was exhausted by the end and proud of what he accomplished. The instructor was encouraging and helped him improve, and the entire team accommodated a wide range of abilities with patience and enthusiasm. I can't recommend this surf school highly enough - they are not just great surfers and teachers, but wonderful people. We are so happy to see Goofy Foot back helping us ride waves again, and look forward to our next time in Maui!
