Description
The longest running surf school in Lahaina, Goofy Foot was established on Maui in April, 1994 by the Owner/Instructor Tim Sherer to perpetuate his relationship with Mother Ocean and to teach the ancient Hawaiian sport of surfing. We are dedicated to providing professional surfing lessons to all levels of aspiring students in the spirit of fun and learning. We are committed to facilitating the highest level of experience for our guests with a focus on teaching safety, ocean awareness and surfing fundamentals. Students are guaranteed to standup and ride at least one wave, and even more are given a smart approach to learning to surf that is based on technique and fundamentals that they can use to accelerate learning on their own.

Favorite activity of the week!
My 12yr old daughter and I surfed with Goofy Foot in late March and both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. She got up on the board every time and it was her favorite activity for the week in Maui! Theo was our instructor and he was great with instruction and patience to tell us about what to do with each wave and what to expect. We saw a photographer with another company on the roadside parking and asked him to take our photos - he agreed and those photos were priceless!

This was my first time...
This was my first time surfing and to my surprise I caught several waves! Javier was great at teaching and breaking down how to do every step to make sure I succeeded. Even when I wiped out he was still very encouraging. If it’s your first time or not, I definitely recommend.

A great experience! Highly recommend!
One of the best things we did on the island. Javier was an amazing instructor and took the time to give us a good lesson at the start that made sure we both were able to surf. I brought my 12 year old son and he had the best time and was surfing like a pro. I highly recommend if you’re looking for surfing lessons while on Maui.

I never write reviews but wanted to tell everyone about Goofy Foot Surf School. We were in Maui last week for a family vacation and booked a group surf lesson with them. They were highly recommended by the condo that we stayed at. The lessons were the highlight of our trip! My kids are 14 and 9 and had never surfed before and were all able to get up on the board and surf! I am probably the least coordinated person and I was able to get up and surf as well! My kids did so well and rode the waves multiple times. It was amazing to see! Our instructor, Junior, was great. He was patient, knowledgeable and funny! If you will be in Maui and are thinking about learning to surf, I highly recommend Goofy Foot Surf School. You will not be disappointed!

Just AWESOME!!
Wow! What an amazing experience! We booked a lesson for both of our kiddos, 13 and 10, and it was their first time trying it. We thought they were gonna have a hard time but no….they had a blast! Junior was their instructor. They had some instruction time in the sand and then went out to the water. First wave and both of them did it! They got better and better as they got more confident and Junior was always helping and giving them some tips. He was patient, energetic and so cool! In the end they even got a delicious treat from him. Me and my husband were watching from the beach not only our kids but also the groups with other instructors from the school and we noticed that they all went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having a good time and would actually catch a wave. Their effort, dedication, enthusiasm was amazing. I couldn’t recommend Goofy Foot enough. They are just the best.

Family Fun
Amazing! Our family of 4 were all able to get up and surf. Turns out our son loves it, so he went back a couple days later and did it again. We are coming back to Maui next year and will book this team again. Highly recommend!!

Great experience.
Very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the whole class. Took the time to explain what to do and when. Stayed close by and observant the entire time.

Ten Year old loved it!
Great day with Fabio and team. Fantastic instruction, easy location to get to, and great waves for beginners. My ten year old took the lesson and had a great time and they took extra care of him to help him get past the break. He’s tired out now but loved it. Mahalo Goofy Foot!
