Our surf lessons are a full 2 hours, tailored to your pace and skill level with your own dedicated surf instructor. Perfect for focused learning and fast progression. Whether it’s your first time surfing or you want to sharpen your skills, surf lessons with Keep It Simple Hawaii are designed to be fun, safe, and truly unforgettable. Every lesson is private for just the two of you. Taught by friendly and experienced instructors, you’ll get the personalized attention you need to succeed at catching some waves. All lessons start on land with safety and technique instruction before heading into the ocean to put your new skills into action for catching your first waves! At all times, you’ll be close to one of our incredible surf instructors. Note: for safety, children ages 5-9 require a private 1:1 lesson.

The meeting point is We surf at The Guardrails on Honoapiʻilani Highway (Hwy 30) just south of mile marker 19 in West Maui. When you arrive, please park on the mountainside of the road, safely cross the road, and come down to the beach where our surf instructors will meet you.. Hotel pickup is not part of this experience.

Super fun experience. Waves we're larger than expected, so be prepared if you're a first timer like i was, you may end up paddling quite a ways out, and not realize that until you can finally take a break, and turn around. The instructor was very experienced, and can get a great feel for if this is safe enough for you or not. Just listen, follow directions, and have fun!
We had the best private surf lesson with Austin! He was patient, knowledgeable, and made us feel completely safe and confident in the water from the very first wave. Trip was great and Austin was a fantastic guide. However, we started about 15 minutes late and ended 10 minutes early, which was frustrating as we payed for 2 hours we didn’t get to take full advantage of.

Austin was soo good with out kids! They were first timers and he taught them how to surf in less than 2 hours. We think we got the best teacher there!

I would recommend this to strong swimmers only. Be prepared for big waves but a lot of fun!! Mario was our instructor and he was incredible! He was so knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable.

This experience was the highlight of our trip to Maui. We went with Mario, and he as well as the other instructors were fantastic. The on the beach portion was thorough and incredibly helpful and Mario was very attentive and made us feel comfortable in the water. He was helpful in pulling us out and pushing us into waves, and the other instructors while with their own groups would also help guide which was an added bonus. The photographer got great shots and overall cannot recommend enough. Next time in Maui we will be booking early into our trip and with the same group.

Instructor was great. It only lasted 1-1/2 hours, not 2. Which they were tired out by, but they shouldn't advertise as a full 2 hours.
