The grandeur of its neoclassical architecture, manicured lawns, and vibrant gardens makes it a perfect photo backdrop. Explore various angles from the Ellipse to capture the essence of this historic residence.
The World War II Memorial serves as a powerful tribute to the sacrifices of millions during the conflict. Its 56 pillars symbolize the U.S. states and territories involved in the war, set against the Reflecting Pool and Lincoln Memorial. With cascading fountains and striking mosaics, the memorial invites reflection on the courage and resilience of those who served.
The Marine Corps War Memorial, also known as the Iwo Jima Memorial, honors the bravery of U.S. Marines with its iconic statue depicting the flag-raising during WWII. Surrounded by a peaceful park and inscriptions honoring the fallen, the memorial serves as a solemn reminder of service and sacrifice and shines brightest when illuminated at night.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial honors the legacy of the civil rights leader with a remarkable 30-foot statue emerging from granite. Surrounded by tranquil gardens, the memorial features quotes that resonate with his messages of love and equality, inviting reflection on the ongoing struggle for civil rights and justice.
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial features a polished black granite wall inscribed with over 58,000 names of those lost in the war. Visitors can reflect on the sacrifices made as they connect with the displayed mementos and the adjoining Three Servicemen Statue and Vietnam Women's Memorial, honoring the complexities of the Vietnam experience.

One of the best tours I’ve ever experienced. Dustin is an excellent tour guide, both extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. Two of our favorite after-dark attractions were the World War II and Marine Corps memorials, the latter of which is not included on many other tours. I cannot recommend this tour — and Dustin — enough. Don’t miss out on this experience.
So glad to have found Ken and his Heart of DC Tours. He picked us up and took us to all the iconic monuments and memorials we could imagine. While going from one to the next he shared many stories from history with us, all entertaining and some quite surprising. We look forward to bring the grandchildren back for the same experience. Thank you, Ken
The Memorials Night Tour was magical. My husband and I had seen these monuments on previous DC trips, but not at night. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and provided insightful commentary for each of our stops. There was plenty of time to get out and take photos and to enjoy the magnificent memorials. Everything was well-executed. A superb experience and well worth the price.
Ken was knowledgeable and entertaining and made sure everyone in our group had a good experience. He let us know that due to the Formula One race coming to DC, certain areas had been closed off from public access blocking one of our intended stops so he made sure to offer an alternative and no one missed the stop, we still had a full and wonderful 3 hours. He went above and beyond and had everything timed just right at each stop to get to see what was there, get some great pictures, and get on to the next stop. It was a fantastic introductory tour to some of the most known sites in DC, so you could figure out where you might want to go back and spend more time. He also gave great recommendations for nearby restaurants, bars, and more things to do and see. He clearly took great pride in the history of the city and sharing knowledge that you don’t get out of a textbook. Whether it’s your first visit to DC or has been a while since your last visit, this is a great place to start.
Perfect for going alone or accompanied. Friendliness. You can get off and walk just enough and necessary. Very good experience
Efficient way to see top sites in one evening. Knowledgeable about history of various monuments. I recommend this tour.
This was the first time my family and I visited DC and the only tour I booked. I am so grateful that we got Ken, who was extremely kind. We not only got to see all of the sites we visited DC to see, but Ken provided a great deal of history about each site and the city itself. The amount of time we were able to get out at each stop was excellent and given all of the construction and detours in the city, Ken did a wonderful job navigating. Additionally, he provided great suggestions for the remainder of our stay.
This was an absolutely amazing experience! I called ahead to see what I needed to bring to pack my 1.5 year old and they were super accommodating. Dustin is a WEALTH of knowledge and I would suggest it to everyone!
Very nice and pleasant. Didn't feel rushed. A/C was a savior. The guide was kind helpful and knowledgeable.
Our family had a fantastic tour with Ken on a hot, stormy evening. It packed in many monuments and we enjoyed his stories of interesting places in between - he’s lived in DC his whole life! He prepares you and drops you off and gives you a time to meet back up. We loved that! Very comfortable, clean, and cool van. He provided plastic ponchos when a storm broke out. Prepared! There were only 2 parties on tour so he dropped us off at our Airbnb afterward! Wow! Small tour compared to the big ones has major pluses. Highly recommend Heart of DC!
