Vesuvius tour entrance to the crater and return bus

Yesterday we were picked up by our driver Alessandro after a beautiful and educational private tour of Pompeii and dropped off at the bottom of Mount Vesuvius. Then it was another 200 meters on foot up. A special experience to see from above the crater. Equally special was the ride with Alessandro. As a true local he knew how to tell us a lot about region, treated us to limoncello slush, arranged cold water for the road, shared many personal stories and also showed us the Pontificio Santuario della Beata Vergine del Santo Rosario di Pompei. So a simple transfer to Mount Vesuvius became a wonderful tour!

Max traveled had not responded to my messages. We booked this for May 2026 and for health reasons someone in the party will not be able to make this walk that I’ve heard from others could be challenging. They refused our request for a refund as we are being told via Viator. They have not responded to my numerous emails. Be ware once you book this you can’t change it no matter what the circumstances! There are other tours that are much more flexible.

Great service! Angelo was really fluent in English and great communication, answered me at late hours and made the experience overall easy to understand. He was also really friendly, welcoming and organised. The bus provided was a comfortable coach, which was on time both journeys (up and down Vesuvius!) We had plenty of time to walk to the crater, get some souvenirs from the stalls and return.

The tour to the crater of Vesuvius absolutely fulfilled our expectations. It is a walk not difficult but gives the opportunity to see spectacular views immersed in a fascinating nature that has pampered us with its scents. The private transport service was perfect, punctual to collect them at the hotel and accompany us to the bus. An experience that I highly recommend.

Very well organized transportation, very friendly and helpful. The tour on Vesuvius is also worth it because it is a 'unique experience to be on the crater of the volcano, so to do at least once in a lifetime 😊. I recommend it

Appreciated that our driver messaged us on WhatsApp a few minutes before the meeting time and made sure we knew who to look for. Also he had a sign with my name so I knew I found the right car. Took us there and back no problem, and even was kind enough to drop us off at a nearby restaurant of his recommendation at our request.

Well we were all alone on our tour. Felt like king (and a queen)…. Clear day had us jumping for joy. The next day it was completely socked in with weather. Roll of the dice i guess

My friend and I wanted to climb Mt. Vesuvius along with a tour of Pompeii. So many tours I looked at were sold out or didn't fit our time frame as we were coming from Rome on the train. After a deep dive in the comments on trip advisor, I found Max Travel. What a great find! Angelo and his wife communicated via WhatsApp which made it very easy to reserve. Once the reservation was made, they sent reminders and then directions about where to meet. They were professional, timely and knew what they were doing! In a small group, we first toured Pompeii with our gudie Fabio. The tour was a perfect length and Fabio knew his stuff. When we met after the tour, Angelo told us where to find authentic Pompeii pizza. It was delicious and right across the main entrance to Pompeii. After lunch, Angelo picked us up and drove us up as far as he could so we could climb Mt. Vesuvius. He told us he would meet us in an hour and a half which was the exact right amount of time. He even told us that around 4pm it's common for Vesuvius to "erupt" and as we were descending around 4pm - there it was (it's some steam being released from inside the crater)! I highly recommend Angelo and his team at Max Travel. They're new to the business, but it didn't feel that way. Thanks Angelo!

On April 7th I visited the excavations of Pompeii with my family, and at the end of this last visit, we decided to reach Vesuvius but unfortunately the tickets were sold out online on the official website, after a short search luckily we found the number of this agency, Max travel, which very easily organized this excursion to Vesuvius directly from the entrance to the Pompeii excavations, new and comfortable minibus and above all guaranteed entry. With a reasonable cost we visited this magnificent volcano. Thank you Max travel for giving us this opportunity.
