This was a private tour we did because my spouse uses a wheelchair. Our tour guide, Evi, was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable of the Vatican and Sistine Chapel. We accessed all the areas using elevators. She kept us moving and cleared people so we could move through the crowd.
Our guide was knowledgeable and spoke clear English. My only complaint was that two different groups of people - came late to the tour and did delay us. The instructions clearly say if you are late the tour doesn’t wait. It wasn’t fair to the other guests who did show up on time. We had a mother tour to get to and couldn’t be late. Lucky it all worked out
The entrance and access were excellent, and what we actually saw on the tour was incredible and absolutely not to be missed. Unfortunately, the guided experience itself was disappointing. The guide was difficult to understand, spoke in a monotone and struggled to engage the group. It was also unclear which rooms and spaces we were visiting, and there was little explanation of how the tour would progress. We were a group of five and, at one point, would have preferred to leave the guided tour and explore independently, but this wasn’t possible. The attraction itself is fantastic, but the quality of the guiding really let the experience down. Based on our experience, I wouldn’t recommend this particular guided tour.

Nightmare experience but we had an excellent guider. Would only recommend if you go at Dawn on the earliest entrance time with top tour tickets. Viator & tour company had wrong times for entry as well causing me much stress. Oversold sold experience, too crowded, long lines throughout, only 3 minutes in the Sistine Chapel, & we were ushered out missing St. Peter’s Basilica as the Pope was doing a Mass. and the tour still took 3 1/2 hours.

I am highly disappointed with both Viator and the local tour operator. After a minor timing issue led to a massive headache, Viator completely hid behind their rigid policies and denied my refund request twice. They care more about keeping your money on a technicality than they do about actual customer satisfaction or helping travelers navigate real-world delays. Do not trust them to help you if anything goes wrong with your booking. I will be taking my business to other booking platforms from now on.
Julianna was very knowledgeable about the Vatican. Gave us good information throughout the tour, was able to answer all questions, and gave us plenty of time for pictures. Would highly recommend this tour!
