Trails Through Time Bellevue Coal Creek History Hike

The Seattle Waterfront Walking Tour gave us wonderful context about the evolving history and importance about this part of Seattle, from the original Coastal Salish inhabitants to now. We especially enjoyed Sol's knowledge and passion for Indigenous history and learned so much from the details in the public art and park design that he pointed out. Learning about how the walkway was designed to illuminate the salmon highway to the Duwamish River was really interesting! Highly recommend this tour for locals who want to learn more about the newly revitalized waterfront, or visitors who want to go deeper into Seattle's rich history and culture. Advice: The park used as the meeting point may be occupied by Seattle's unhoused residents, and you may encounter drug use. If that is the case, find a spot nearby and text your guide. Communication before the tour was great and easy.

This was a wonderful experience. The tour guides are incredibly knowledgeable. Even as a local, I learned a great deal about the area’s coal mining history and its role in shaping my hometown today. Our guide also shared extensive knowledge about local plants, and it was especially interesting to learn how Native Americans used them for medicinal purposes. That was a meaningful addition to an already engaging tour. It was also great to spend time outdoors with my colleagues. I would definitely recommend this tour.

I really enjoyed this hike and walking tour. The guides were so fun & it was really interesting to learn about coal mining in Bellevue. I would absolutely recommend for a group. The hike was easy & we learned about foraging along the way.
