Itinerary

Head inside The National WWII Museum with your general admission ticket and start exploring the captivating exhibition space at leisure. The Museum tells the story of the American Experience in the war that changed the world—why it was fought, how it was won, and what it means today—so that all generations will understand the price of freedom and be inspired by what they learn. Guaranteed to move and educate, The National WWII Museum features interactive exhibits, soaring aircraft, personal histories, and more. The heart of the Museum experience, Campaigns of Courage: European and Pacific Theaters brings visitors inside the story of how the war was won. Two immersive exhibitions—Road to Berlin: European Theater Galleries and Road to Tokyo: Pacific Theater Galleries—feature environmental exhibits that guide visitors chronologically through the narrative of each theater of combat, using a sophisticated mix of set design, narrated and environmental videos, period newsreels, interactive oral-history kiosks, personal and digital artifacts, and dynamic displays for a uniquely evocative experience. How long you spend inside the museum is up to you! If you are hungry or simply want a break from exploring the exhibits, visit the on-site American Sector Restaurant + Bar and take a step back in time in BB’s Stage Door Canteen, a 1940s-style entertainment venue that showcases the music and performers of the war years. Food and drinks are at your own expense.

Excellent museum! Highly recommended!

Amazing museum! I would recommend the guided tour and the Without Boundaries movie! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and covered all aspects of the museum in just 2 hours. You can park across the street in WWII Museum parking deck. They have 5-6 restaurants at the museum. We ate lunch at the American Sector. Very good service and the food was great. The gumbo appetizer was great. We have made multiple trips to this museum. Every trip has been better and better. They are constantly updating the exhibits, improving the experience, etc. Highly recommended!

It is an amazing museum wish we had more than 3 hours to spend there but we did quite a bit in that time . We skipped the merchant marines and finished the rest of the museum .

Be prepared to be amazed!

Knowledgeable staff will answer questions and direct you where you want to go in this huge museum. So much to see in so little time we had. I was impressed with the collections and informative boards. To take everything in you will need more than a couple of hours. They also have a restaurant in case you want to take a break to eat.

This is a wonderful...

This is a wonderful museum. My opinion would be that it is not for children. It's a large space requiring alot of walking, but it is worth it. Plan on 3 to 4 hours at least. Very informative about America's involvement in WW2.

The Best War (Time Period) Museum!

We are from the DC area so we are used to visiting museums. This museum is appropriately huge and information-packed. The features of the museum, including the boats, planes, and other real 3D items were great. From soldier stories to the experiences of the public during and after wartime, the museum provided a comprehensive overview of the impact and enormity of the subject matter for the people visiting. Another impressive thing was the perspective of the war from allied civilians and the choices to go to war. There were also very appropriate inclusions about the cultural issues and achievements that occurred because of (and in spite of) the war. It was not too focused on weapons or on politics, but offered the usual treasure trove of machines and technologies. It did, however, focus appropriately on the themes of freedom, tyranny, and the human experience on and off of the battlefield. We were especially enamored by the theme on rebuilding after the war and the huge responsibility the Greatest Generation had to rebuild our civilization. We will definitely be going back!

Worthy of the admission price !

This place is massive! Very interesting and informative. You could really do a whole day in there with plenty to do. The admission fee is kinda high but I think it is worth the admission.

Wonderful experience

The museum was a wonderful experience. There was so much to see, but not enough time to see it all. I must return.
