Skip-the-line Private: Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel&St Peter's

We had such a wonderful experience with Sara as our tour guide for the Vatican Museums and St\. Peter’s Basilica\! She was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and made the entire tour enjoyable and easy to follow\. Her English was excellent, and she did a great job spending just the right amount of time at each part of the tour without ever feeling rushed\. You could really tell how passionate and knowledgeable she is about the history and everything we were seeing\. We learned so much and truly enjoyed our experience\. Let me begin by stating when I booked this tour on Viator, I picked the 9:00 am slot because it was available. I got an email a few days later saying that was a website error and they only had 2:00 PM available. I had already made plans for the day, so I had to go back and rework everything I had already booked because I did not want to miss out on my once in a lifetime Vatican experience. I appreciate that the company tried to fix the problem, but it was not my fault their website was not working. I was not offered anything for my inconvenience. I was a little upset about it, but I had to make do. Now onto the review for the tour - our tour guide, Tomasso, WAS AMAZING! He is an actual archaeologist and had so much information. He texted me the day before to tell me where to meet him. He was very easy to find and had a sign up with my last name so I could find him even quicker. Also, it was so wonderful to get escorted through all of the entrances with ease. Tomasso handled it all. I will not lie, this is a very expensive experience! But if you want no hassles, someone basically to hold your hand right through ALL OF IT, and get one on one history on anything in the Vatican museum, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's - then this is the company to choose. Just put it on a credit card, trust me. The entire Vatican experience can be very overwhelming and there are SO MANY tourists. I truly got to enjoy all of the Vatican because Tomasso walked us through all of it. WE LOVE YOU TOMASSO! Make sure you ask for him! And make sure the company has the right times open.

One would need to spend days and days to truly enjoy this, but Tommaso made this a great experience. He was very knowledgeable and engaging, answering the many questions we had. We would have liked to linger longer, but it was so hot! It was 35 degrees during our visit; it was cooler in the shade outside than it was inside the Basilica. Anyone with heat sensitivity needs to be cautious.

Sara gave just about the best tour we have ever experienced. She’s knowledgeable, articulate, prepared, technologically savvy (seamlessly integrating images from her iPad with the architecture and art at hand), and, frankly, a joy of a tour guide. She earns the highest marks from even before the tour starts (providing clear meet-up instructions and showing up timely) until the end.

Excellent tour. Skipping the line was worth it. The museums are huge, so only the key things were included. A nice introduction. Sara was knowledgeable and polite. After the tour we took the stairs to the top of the dome which was worth it (not included in the tour). We would recommend a second trip on your own if you wish to spend longer at the museums.

We used Viator to book a private tour of the Vatican, it was nothing short of fabulous! Our tour guide was incredible! It was obvious that he was very passionate about what he does and extremely knowledgeable. The tour was just our few group members and we were able to go as fast or as slow through the tour as we like. I never felt as if the tour was lagging or rushed it was just the right amount of time and information. He gave us access to areas other visitors of the Vatican did not have access to - it really made the tour special. The ability to skip the line and save the extra wait times in the Summer was also a great perk. Thank you again!

Really good tour with Sara. She did a great job of pointing out the highlights for us without being boring. Gave us enough history so things made sense and told us specific things to look for as we went around, like certain details in the Sistine chapel. Even our 18 year old thought it was interesting. All in all a great tour and definitely recommend it.

Sara was the best tour guide ever. She was very informative and took great care of us. She knows her stuff in Vatican City!

Private tour is the way to go. It can be so packed with groups that a small private tour made it enjoyable. Sara was great, zooming us thru areas packed with people. My kids enjoyed it and were active the whole time, thanks to Sara!
