Roatan Private Excursion and Monkey Sloth Sanctuary

We have taken many cruise excursions, but our day with José and Roatan Exclusive was simply the best we’ve ever experienced. What was supposed to be a 3–4 hour private Roatán Highlights Tour became nearly six incredible hours because José kept personalizing the day for us — and still had us back at our Carnival ship two hours before departure. My wife Connie uses a wheelchair. José insisted on pushing her himself and never treated her mobility as an inconvenience. He showed us the Roatán he loves: local food, beer, chocolate, coffee, scenic areas and places we never would have experienced on a crowded cruise excursion. At Mayan Eden, José introduced us to Juan Carlos, an exceptional sanctuary guide. Despite steep, difficult terrain, Juan Carlos helped us get Connie through the sanctuary and gave us unforgettable encounters with butterflies, toucans, monkeys, sloths and boas. He also took phenomenal photos and videos using our own iPhones. When we finished, rather than make Connie negotiate another difficult hill, Juan Carlos called José, who drove down to pick us up. That sums up the entire experience: instead of telling us what couldn’t be done, they figured out how to make it happen. José even shared his personal phone hotspot when I unexpectedly needed internet access to deal with a banking problem. By the end of the day, José wasn’t simply our tour guide. We had talked about Roatán, business, family and life and genuinely felt we’d made a friend. José later told us we were now part of the Roatan Exclusive family. That’s exactly how it felt. We arrived as customers. We left feeling like family. If you’re coming to Roatán on a cruise, skip the crowded bus and book Roatan Exclusive. Five stars without hesitation. We would book with José again in a heartbeat!

We had a great experience on this private tour with Moses. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and had a nice air conditioned van for transportation. The animal sanctuary was fantastic! The guide there was very good, and we got to hold birds, monkeys and a lemur! We got our picture made with a sloth! After the sanctuary, Moses drove us all over the island. We went to the rum and chocolate factories. We didn’t want to spend any time on the beach, so Moses took us to see some other beautiful areas.

This excursion was better than I expected. I had an issue with the booking and they were extremely helpful and willing to work with me to ensure everything was set up correctly. The day of the excursion we met Davis who went above and beyond ensuring we saw everything we wanted to see and then some!

We had such a wonderful excursion in Roatan thanks to Emilio! From the adorable sloths and monkeys to the delicious chocolate and rum tastings, every part of the day was fantastic. Emilio went above and beyond by providing cold waters and beers for us and making stops at gorgeous locations for pictures. You can tell he truly cares about giving guests a great experience. We learned so much about the island while also having an absolute blast. Highly recommend booking with him!

We had a great experience with Davis as our guide. We had a private tour in a good quality minivan whilst on Roatan during a cruise ship visit. We enjoyed seeing the island and visiting the monkey sanctuary, chocolate factory and West Bay beach. Highly recommended.

Amazing experience and very personal, just the 2 of us. Oscar went above and beyond to show us all the highlights of Roatan. The wildlife experience was brilliant, letting us up close with holding and feeding the animals in the reserve. The guide there was passionate about all the animals and their welfare and conservation. Would definitely recommend this experience on your visit to Roatan.
