Full-day tour with a walk of about 4 hours and 30 minutes, starting the route in the Paúl da Serra, descending to the Rabaçal valley for the first levada, which leads us to the first waterfall, the Risco waterfall
We descended to find the second levada of the 25 springs providing wonderful and unique views over the Rabaçal valley, finding endemic species of fauna and flora along the route until reaching the lagoon of the 25 springs. On the return we passed a tunnel of about 800 meters

Walking shoes...
Walking shoes are not essential. Running sneakers are sufficient, provided you are not afraid of getting them dirty.
Bring a small snack and something to drink.

A very good day and a great guide
A service provider highly recommended for hikes: clear information sent via WhatsApp after booking, efficient pickup, no booking problems on simplifica (he handles it for you), a small group of 13 people, and a great guide (Elton) who gave us a lot of information about the island, the fauna, the flora, and of course the levadas, with a lot of professionalism but also humor. He found us a slightly alternative route to escape the crowds of the 25 Fontes hike on the way back and let us taste a real poncha before returning to the hotel. My only regret is not having had the time to do more than one hike with this service provider!

Wonderful tour guide!
What made this walk special wasn’t just the seamless transfer to/from destination nor the 25 Fonts (which was busy), it was Elton, our tour guide. He additionally took us on a less trodden route through a 800m tunnel which we wouldn’t have done by ourselves and was a wealth of information and enthusiasm about Madeira.

Another fantastic walk
Great walk! Elton did a fantastic job in bringing all the local flora and fauna to life with interesting facts about the construction and maintenance of the levadas along with loads of jokes! This was our second walk with Madeira Free Spirit Walks - both have been excellent. Well worth booking through them if you’re visiting the island and want to see the real Madeira.

Nice hiking trail
Good organization. The guide made sure to provide us with the information in Spanish, and we were the only ones who didn't speak English. Hiking shoes or waterproof shoes are preferable. A couple of flights of stairs, but manageable for a normal fitness level. Excellent views.
