One of the most photographed places in Greece, Oia is located on the top of an impressive cliff and offers a spectacular view over the volcano and the Aegean sea. The famous Venetian Castle is a major landmark of the village. Also known as the Castle of St Nikolas, the 15th-century castle was constructed during the Venetian occupation. Its location is the reason it constitutes one of the most popular places to watch the sunset in the entire Aegean Sea. Other cultural attractions and landmarks include the Maritime Museum with its small library, windmills, and art galleries founded by numerous artists who fell in love with the area.
The Pyrgos Kallistis, such as the full name of the village is meaning the most beautiful tower, is the old capital of the island and the newest castle of the Kasteli (castle cities built during the 15th and 16th century). The medieval aura remains alive in the streets and in the shadow of the steeples of the many churches of the village. A walk to the Pyrgos village will bring you closer to an important piece of the history of the island.
The highest spot of the island (567 meters) is located between Pyrgos and Kamari. The Mountain's name is Profitis Ilias (Prophet Elijah), coming from the Monastery with the same name on its peak. From this vantage point, you will enjoy a striking view of the entire island, from the patchwork agricultural plains to the hilltop village of Oia.

She came to pick us up at our hotel, my husband and myself. It was a five hour tour but swished we had done maybe another extra hour or so because we didn’t get to go to wine tasting and another place. She took us to the beautiful beaches in Santorini. From the top most point we could see a panoramic view of the whole island. Amazing views indeed. She is such a good and experienced guide.that as a first time visitor you just feel warmed .
We had the perfect 2 days in Santorini, largely thanks to Dimitris from Santorinidoit. From the very moment we arrived at the port, Dimitris was incredibly easy to identify in a sea of people holding name cards, thanks to his distinct green shirt. He kindly dropped us off at our hotel and picked us up the next day for a fantastic half-day tour. During the tour, we visited the Red Beach, Black Beach, Pyrgos, Megalochori, and Emporio villages. The pretty villages left a lasting impression on us. Truly unforgettable! We also visited Prophet Elias' monastery and church. The view from this place was breathtaking. Every stop was wonderful, and communication with Dimitris throughout was incredibly easy. To top it off, he recommended a beautiful restaurant in Fira for a sunset dinner which was spectacular. We enjoyed every second of our time, and it was worth every cent. Our only regret is that we wish we had another few days in Santorini. Thank you, Dimitris! We highly recommend him to anyone visiting.

The excursion was wonderful, we saw everything essential and more, we took impressive photographs without waiting in lines since Lena knows unique places. Lena told us the whole history and the curiosities of the Island and it was super interesting. She took us to some wonderful places. And the highlight was enjoying a wonderful typical meal on the beach, very well priced, and then we were able to enjoy an incredible afternoon at the beach with our private lounge chairs. Without a doubt, if I were to return to Santorini I would trust Lena again without any doubt.

Dimitri was waiting for us and excited to show us the island. He was a wonderful driver, thought of our every need, willing to accommodate our interests and had secret spots of his own. He took 45 photos of us and sent them to us on What's App before our trip was even over. He was very personable and we enjoyed our day with him. He never made us feel rushed and shared the knowledge he had of the island. Well worth our money!
