Private Guided Tour Swim with Turtles Rarotonga

We had a brilliant time! As a family of 5, we ended up as the only ones on the tour with 3 guides so we felt super safe. The guides really helped us make the most of the once in a life time experience of of swimming in deep clear water with turtles and eagle rays. Was a real highlight!

Absolutely fabulous afternoon today with Turtles Rarotonga team, just the two of us with a guide who was amazing. For NZD130 each, we were supplied with fins, wetsuits and snorkels. Entertained for the best part of two hours. Saw roughly 15 turtles, at least 50 eagle rays and countless reef fish.

My family and I had an excellent tour with the Ocean Toa team recetly- we were lucky enough to enjoy the company of around 20 turtles and 50 eagle rays among other tropical fish with 2 guides dedicated to our family of 4 people. I especially appreciated how thoughtful they were with our kids (9y and 7y), bringing them out on a paddle board which ensured they saw lots of turtles, rays and fish, without swimming too far, getting chilly, or being mixed up in the larger groups out in the passage. And the photos and video footage they immediately transferred over were top quality. Highly recommend going with Louisa, Mark and the team!

Booked for tour and once there found I was the only one going so Marcus did a one on one tour for me. Very amazing how the turtles just hang around in the passage inside the reef and don't feel bothered by us. Pretty special to see and a credit to Ocean Toa in their professional running of the tour.

This tour was absolutely outstanding. All 4 of us (2 parents + 1 8 year old and 1 7 year old) loved it. Highlight of the trip!! Honestly, I had been questioning doing this with the kids, as having done a Turtle tour in Hawaii last year knew first hand that it was in a passage and that naturally means steep drop offs and can mean unpredictable currents, however a friend (who lives in Raro) recommended this company. I’m so glad she did, as right from the first second you could tell safety of both us and the Turtles and the environment was paramount. Our family of 4 had two guides, 1 with the kids and 1 with the big people, with the camera and on Turtle look out :) they also took the kids out on the boat, as to ensure they didn’t get unnecessarily cold and meant the time in the trench could be maximised. A million times better than the tour in Hawaii and added bonus of each group having a go pro, so awesome photos and videos. If you have the app pre downloaded, they can transfer the photos then and there. Hands down one of the best water tours I’ve been on, and ive been to about 30 countries, so have some other experiences to base this on. Highly recommend this family company :)

This experience was an absolute highlight of our Rarotonga holiday! Our family of two adults and two kids (8 and 5 years old) were so well looked after by the Ocean Toa team. We had three guides for the four of us, and as we had young kids they took us out to the passage on a boat and provided a paddle board they could lie on and floaties for them to hold onto. This was much needed in the strong currents and meant that they could enjoy the experience as much as us. We snorkeled with three gorgeous green turtles and even saw a Hawksbill which the kids were stoked about! We felt safe and supported and Regan took some great footage on the Go Pro that we’ll treasure forever. Ocean Toa are a family business that take safety and sustainability seriously and we’ll definitely be back if we come back to Raro.
