Family Tour – Meiji Shrine, Senso-ji Temple & Imperial Palace East Gardens

Miko was the perfect guide for our family, especially traveling with a 7-year-old and a 2-year-old. She struck the ideal balance between keeping things engaging and relaxed, which made the experience enjoyable for both kids and adults. Her pacing was just right—never rushed, but still allowing us to see and appreciate so much. She had a wonderful way of holding our attention with interesting stories and insights, while also being patient and attentive to the kids’ needs. What really stood out was how naturally she connected with our family, making everyone feel comfortable and included. It truly felt like we were exploring the city with a knowledgeable friend rather than being on a structured tour. We’re so grateful for such a thoughtful and well-curated experience, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip.

Operator response

Hi Hannah, Thank you so much for your incredibly thoughtful and heartfelt review! We’re absolutely delighted to hear that Miko was able to create such a comfortable and enjoyable experience for your entire family. Traveling with young children can sometimes be challenging, so it means a lot to know that Miko’s pacing, flexibility, and attentive approach helped both the adults and little ones fully enjoy the day. We’re so happy to hear that the tour felt more like exploring Tokyo with a knowledgeable friend than being on a formal tour. Your kind words about how naturally she connected with your family will mean so much to her. We’re honored that the tour became one of the highlights of your trip. Thank you again for choosing Hello! Tokyo Tours. We hope to welcome you and your family back to Japan again someday!

Walking personal guided walking tour Tokyo

My partner and I had a 8 hour walking tour of Tokyo with Meiko , which included Imperial Palace East Garden Tsukiji Fish Market Nezu Shrine and Azalea Gardens Kappabashi Kitchen Town Asakusa and Sensoji temple Tokyo Tower Meiko was extremely pleasant and friendly, and had excellent English. She did not try to hurry us , made some excellent food choice suggestions at the fish markets, and was able to adequately answer our queries and help us understand the Tokyo train system ( including emailing us concise instructions for how to return to our accomodation after dropping us off at Tokyo tower at the end of tour .) I would thoroughly recommend her to any potential travellers looking for a pleasant knowledgeable guide.

Lovely Tour of Yokohama city!

Miko Ota was our tour guide for Yokohama city. She was very kind and accommodating, and very patient as well. We went to eat soufflé pancakes, and visited Chinatown, the cup noodle museum, and the Red Brick Warehouse. She was very lovely, and efficient with our time constraints. Fell in love with Tokyo because of what we experienced by our tour guide Miko

If you had a higher number than 5 I would definitely give Miko from Hello Tokyo tours a ten. We ordered a private tour because I have Mobility issues. I use a scooter. MIko spent time before we even met to find accessible areas I could get to, even where there was bathrooms I could use. She listened to my requests to go shopping for souvenirs and see art and crafts made in Tokyo. She organized lunch with Geisha, which was so interesting to try the beautiful looking good with texture and to experience the Geisha letting is ask questions and she asked a lot about where we were from, she then danced for us as well. a tour in China town and I got to have my fortune read and it was accessible to get into the reading and Miko interpreted everything. Felt so comfortable with her and she was so kind. We shopped a bit and she even took some great photos for me as well. We did have a issue with the vehicle the company hired when they picked me up. It had stairs to get into. MIko said she would fix it and she did. We ended up with a vehicle with a lift so i was able to get in. Nice that she can fix an issue that came up. On our second day of tour she arrived early hired a taxi that could spend the whole day with us and had the room for my scooter. We went to an incredible park with groomed trees like bonsai. She showed us Japanese candy and explained the texture.. Miko also told us about how the grooming a bonsai and how the park is enjoyed by people to relax and take in fresh air and look at the beauty of shaped trees and the tea houses in the park. After that, we went downtown to the oldest shopping store and she explained all about it from the 1400s and how their goal was to always be sincere. It was a beautiful store and the basement was a hidden treasure of so much food and takeout and chocolates and cookies so interesting and she found me a bathroom very easily. She knew where everything was.. then we went to the underground station to see Art. The next spot was a kimono store with the most expensive kimonos that it would cost just as much as a car.. after that we went to the jewellery district and found a deal on some pearls that were good quality. Then we went for a tea ceremony that was fascinating.. It was a delicate process, even down to Cleaning, the utensils and the bowl and the mixing of the hot water with the Matcha tea with the whisk to foam it up and get it creamy and about the time it takes to get you to relax to enjoy the perfect tea very ceremonial and respectful have to say it was a real learning experience. I fell in love with Tokyo and I think it's mainly because of Miko. She's a very kind person and very knowledgable and able to interact with everyone even when we were walking by a woman that was dressed in a kimono She asked her kindly if we could get our pictures taken with her and she did it was lovely. Very nice memories and will definitely ask Miko for another tour next time in Tokyo
