Pontcysyllte Aqueduct Canoe Tours in Llangollen

Description
We start at the south end of the aqueduct and soon enough you are paddling across this famous feat of engineering which stands at an impressive 126ft above the Dee River. Although this style of canoeing is deemed a calm and peaceful session the look over the edge is a breathtaking sight, but with our staff on hand, there is nothing to worry about, especially with a safe footpath on the opposing side. After this it is then a breeze down the canal, learning and developing skills across the way with some games and challenges thrown in. Our endpoint is the Sun Trevor pub which is a great location for some good quality grub and a cold drink.

We are a family with two Neurodiverse children, one of which has Scoliosis and Dyspraxia. Though they are teenagers we were a little nervous of them getting tired or having a meltdown and us getting stuck. Carl, came up with a great solution of tying two Canoes together. Creating a Bell boat of sorts. This made it super stable and allowed the children to join in when they felt able. It also made the experience a family one, instead of the stronger paddlers racing ahead. Carl was amazing, he understood without us explaining that my son didn't like direct communication and instead of pushing him to interact he adjusted his style accordingly. We took the early morning, 8.30am which was perfect as the river was so quiet, not so on our return. We made good time, working as a team to paddle, so we were able to stop for toilets and Ice cream when we reached the Basin by the Aqueduct. On our return my son was struggling with his back, the Canoe afforded the perfect place for him to lie down. He got to enjoy the Vista and I didn't need to struggle alone, as we were paddling as a family. Thanks for an unforgettable trip, we will definitely be making the 3hr trip back to visit again.
We were experienced canoeists but we were impressed how Jack gave simple instruction to those who were not and with how he fixed their struggles. He was friendly and funny and knowlegdeable with the history of the bridge and canal. The company was helpful in getting us to the met point. A fabulous experiance off our bucket list. Thank you Jack.
Great day canoeing across the viaduct. Jack, our guide, made the day really enjoyable and safe
Harry was a great guide. The trip was good fun and well organised. The views from the aqueduct were beautiful.
Me and my girlfriend had a great afternoon and really enjoyed the whole experience. Canoeing along the aqueduct was amazing and the views were fantastic. Emma was a brilliant guide, we had a good laugh and picked lots of blackberrys along the way.
Carl was an enthusiastic and energetic guide who got us all safely and happily through the experience. A busy day over the aqueduct with lots of other canal users but that gave us an opportunity to take in the great views and socialise with passers by . Would thoroughly recommend and it’s not as daunting as you might imagine , even if heights aren’t your thing 😊
Very personable guide, Jack, gave clear and precise instructions and was very knowledgeable about places enroute to the aqueduct and of the aqueduct itself. Two and a half hours of gentle canal paddling with beautiful scenery. Only twenty five minutes to the aqueduct and a short wait for the canal boats to pass from the other direction. Excellent experience with the bonus of paddling back across and even a walk across to give you a very different perspective of a masterpiece of engineering. Well worth the money and one crossed off my bucket list
Very easy booking online. I went with 2 grandchildren aged 15 &13. It was a wonderful experience along a peaceful stretch of the canal and then the vertiginous view from the aqueduct. Our guide, Harry was so good. Professional, informative, helpful and witty.
Really fun experience. Our guide Carl was the best! Took around two and half hours from meeting up to finishing, we went through the basics of canoeing which helped with understanding and confidence when in the water. Group of around 12, 6 canoes all together which was nice as it didn’t feel too crowded. Overall recommend the experience.
Fantastic family experience. From the welcome to the ending, Emma was great - supportive of my 2 granddaughters and my partner with a knee issue. Very safety conscious but with extra humour. Well worth the cost and going on an aqueduct was definitely a different experience.
