Not worth it
Although our guide was very nice, we were underwhelmed with the content and information. It felt more like a babysitting tour for people who are afraid to go out on their own at night. We didn’t get a lot of information regarding the history of the area. Mainly wandered round and listened to drums. The church was packed with tourists and so not an edifying spectacle. People pushing to take videos of other people worshipping is not really my idea of a good time. Guide was also pushy about getting a commission off a jewellery shop I went into on my own.
I think there are probably better value tours to chose.
Operator response
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you found our guide to be nice, though we’re sorry the experience didn’t fully meet your expectations.
Our tour is designed to immerse guests in the vibrant energy of the streets, focusing on the **musicality, flavors, and cultural expressions** that make the area unique. As outlined in the tour description, the experience includes **live street music, the opportunity to try local drinks and street food, and attending an Afro-Catholic mass**—a deeply spiritual and cultural moment that is indeed very popular. The presence of other visitors reflects the significance of this event, and while it can get crowded, it remains a unique opportunity to witness a powerful local tradition.
Regarding historical context, our approach prioritizes **a sensory and experiential journey**, allowing guests to absorb the atmosphere firsthand. However, we understand that some visitors may seek more structured historical commentary, and we’ll take your feedback into account to ensure we continue balancing storytelling with immersive experiences.
Lastly, we want to clarify that while our guides may recommend local businesses as part of supporting the community, there is never an obligation to make purchases. We’ll review your feedback internally to ensure our recommendations remain respectful and pressure-free.
We appreciate your perspective and are always looking for ways to enhance our tours. Thank you for joining us, and we hope that, despite your concerns, you were still able to take away something special from the experience.
Your Tour Brazil Team.

OLD CITY OF BAHIA
Similar to other old cities in the rest of America, with the difference that it has no residents because they were evicted in the late 90s (in a controversial decision) opening ateliers, bars, restaurants, cultural centers and other very enjoyable shops. Must be visited, at least during the day of custody and on Tuesday nights when Olodum acts

Excellent tour to Pelourinho at night
Excellent services of Your tour Brazil, the ride was very good, Vagner's guide was unbeatable, as well as Junior, the rider. The tour was otherwise interesting since there are street samba bands, many groups with drums, samba rods in different places, I could also attend a stretch of the Afro Catholic Mass in the church Nuestra Sra. del Rosario de los Negroes.
Walk so you don't get lost. I'll be back.

A thrilling experience to connect...

A thrilling experience to connect with the relatively little-known Black experience in the Americas. It was exciting. There could be no better guide than tour guide Jorge Hage. Connecting with him on the first day and first night for the Pelourinho Tour by Night was a great adventure. He became more of a friend than a guide on an exciting night that took us on a whirlwind of adventure of Salvador by night. We participated in the mass celebrating Blessed Tuesday and from there explored all that the historic center of Pelourinho had to offer. By the time we landed in the Odoya restaurant for dinner, it was mission accomplished. Jorge gave us the insight and knowledge to later strike out on our own for further adventures in the week that proved culturally stimulating and exciting. It's easy to be intimidated by the crowd of strangers milling all over the historical district, but the presence of armed police all over provides that sense of security. At the end of the day, you find out everyone is just out for a night of fun in the wide open center.
