Enjoyed Anna and Marta’s clear explanations - both desserts were delicious - will definitely try making them at home.

At Compadre, cooking is about sharing food, stories and Portuguese culture around the table. Our relaxed, welcoming approach makes the class suitable for beginners while remaining engaging for experienced home cooks. Rather than focusing on just one pastry, the experience introduces guests to two traditional recipes and the people, customs and flavours behind them. You’ll leave with practical skills, memorable moments and recipes you can recreate at home. - Learn to make puff pastry; - Learn the secrets to Pastel de nata; - Get to learn a second traditional recipe

The best cooking class I have ever done!
It was great and delicious! We got to make two desserts which was lovely. It was a little fast paced and it would have been five stars if the experience had been even half an hour longer :)
We were very eager to do this group custard tart workshop, but we left with a somewhat bittersweet feeling. To be honest, our expectation was to find a much more participatory or "hands-on" experience. We went in thinking that each person would have the opportunity to make their own tarts from start to finish, but the reality was a much more group-oriented and passive dynamic. Most of the time consisted of listening to the instructor's explanations while we shared utensils and pots among everyone. In practice, our individual participation was very limited: we basically just stirred the milk for a moment and filled the molds with the batter and cream. We felt that we missed out on really being involved in the complete process of the recipe, as much of the work was already done or performed by the staff. If you are looking for a class where you just want to have a pleasant time listening and watching how it is done, that is fine. But if, like us, you are looking for an immersive cooking experience where you are the main one in the preparation, this workshop may be a bit disappointing.
We went as a group of 6 and had the best time! We were shown how to make Pastel de Natas from scratch as well as another traditional portuguese dessert. Really good fun and we all got to eat all of it at the end!
Excellent experience we really enjoyed it. Very knowledgeable team who explained things very well and made it fun. Just the right length of time.
Informative and fun, we loved this hands-on, two-hour cooking experience where we learned about both the history and step by step technique in making not only Pastel de Nata, but also Farofias. Everything was so well thought out and paced, and the desserts were absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed the clean and bright cooking school environment. Great facility and small group setting. Anna and Marta were wonderful, expert instructors. Again, pace of class was perfect for mixed ages (our group included ages 11 and 15). Fun to sit for a few minutes and enjoy eating our desserts at the very end!
Very nice experience. Afternoon activity with dessert as icing on the cake Cooking course with the children, very accessible Good guidance
Very nice cooking workshop for pastel de naTa. We got the preparation of farofias extra! Nice teaching and history sketch of the pastel de nata and Belem. Ideal as a couple with our two girls (9 and 11y) In the end, we had a QR code with lots of Portuguese recipes.
A really fun couple of hours learning how to make traditional Pastil de nanda. Much more complicated than I expected but Anna and Marta made it very easy for us.
