Organic Wood-fire Cooking Class

Cannot say enough good things about our experience. Mrs. Juliana and interpreter Lazarus were both incredible. It was very hands on helping to prepare the numerous Greek dishes that we later enjoyed for lunch. All the ingredients are grown right there, from veggies, fruits and herbs to olives and olive oil. The wine was from the neighbor’s grapes. We cooked over an open wood fire and a wood fired oven; no electricity there. Food was the best that we have had in our week in Greece so far, truly a memorable meal. We enjoyed walking around the 3 acre farm with all the fresh vegetables. Some of the structures were from the 1600’s. You have not had a Greek salad to you have had Mrs. Juliana’s, so fresh and delicious. They do have a modern WC there.

What an awesome experience. Mrs Juliana was a spectacular hostess and the atmosphere was unbelievable. Lazarus was of great assistance with language and environmental things. The food we cooked was so fresh tasting and we left so full we could hardly walk. If you have time, this is a definite stop you should make!

This was such a special experience and truly one of our favorite memories from Naxos. Our hosts made us feel so welcome, and sharing a beautiful meal we prepared together over the wood fire felt incredibly personal and authentic. We left with full hearts, full stomachs, and memories we’ll always treasure. Highly recommend!

Wow! Juliana met us with a warm smile and Lazzarus interpreted and provided much history of the acres of trees and gardens. We began with our peppers, zucchini and eggplants. Hollowed them, prepared rice, onions, garlic, tomatoes herbs and everything over a flame to surround the peppers to bake in the wood oven. We then seasoned our lamb and potatoes with fresh herbs and olive oil allnfarm to table. Also placed in wood oven. Onto preparing zucchini friiters and deep frying over flame. The best was my husband and I getting to roll the dough, fill it with cheese and oregano and pinch it to fry over the wood fire grill. Top with the best honey- superb. Next after removing our lamb, potatoes, stuffed veggies we let it sit while Juliana made us a greek salad. The lamb was very good, but the potatoes with citrus fruits and herbs were oustanding! The food was exceptional!!! Lazzarus delightful and Juliana warm and insteuctive with a few Bravos for my husband and I. With all the leftovers packed for us to enjoy later, Lazzarus walked us around the gardens and property. We returned to close out our palettes to a candied plump pear. My husband and I booked this activity and it was a nice experience but over rated and over priced. I have a mixed review. Pros: The food was fresh and wonderful! The wine was good and we did learn how to make 2 delicious dishes. The mountainside setting was charming. Nikos was a good host and did well answering our questions. Overall, it was a delicious meal and we left very full and they even packed our leftovers which we enjoyed the next day! Cons: Mrs Juliana had a warm smile but did not speak any English and she and Nick spent a lot of time talking to each other in Greek which felt rude and made us feel like we were being left out . The setting was next to an ancient grove of olive trees but did not seem like a real working farm. I expected to see animals harvest veggies eggs etc. We did some cooking but items such as the dough for the bread was pre made. We both wanted to know how to make the bread dough! Also recipes were promised as paet of the experience - I’m still waiting to receive them…

What a perfect night !!! From the minute we walked in we were amazed and excited Konstantinos was a perfect host in every way, warn , full of wisdom and knowledge and made us feel like we had been long time friends Juliana , the ya ya to all was sweet and all encompassing and we jumped right in to aprons with wipe towels and we partook in everything to make our top rate meal It was seriously soooo fun and literally every single thing was delicious The ingredients so fresh right from the farm and trees and we left with very full and happy stomachs I would say thus experience shoukd be on everyone’s top list of experiences in Naxos 10/10 and we thank you for every minute of a perfect night

We had the most amazing time with Ms. Juliana and her assistant/translator Lazaros. The setting couldn’t have been more perfect and the hospitality was outstanding. A true farm to table experience. Outdoors, at a beautiful farm, learning how to make traditional dishes using all the freshest possible ingredients. Even the wine, olive oil and honey were from Ms. Juliana’s family farm! If you love food and enjoy a little closer cultural experience, we highly recommend this class!

The Rustic setting on ancient farm lands is only the beginning of this unique experience. Preparing farm fresh vegetables, eggs and lamb, over a wood flame, into amazing dishes with Juliana was a completely unforgettable experience. We can’t recommend this more!!

This was one of the highlights of our honeymoon- a private cooking class for two on a farm in Naxos! Nikos was a fun and amazing and knowledgeable guide and translator and Miss Julianna was like spending the afternoon with the Greek Yaya I never knew I needed. It was so special to cook local produce over an open fire with herbs and fruit and veggies picked straight from the garden. Felt like an authentic Greek experience and a memory we will never forget!

We did the Local Products Experience, but that choice was not available for some reason. We highly recommend this private local food tour in the Naxos Island. Our guide Kostas was fantastic, respectful of our time and comfort. He took us to taste delicious olives, olive oils, honey and a special citron liquor. We culminated our tour with a wonderful lunch at a certified organic cheese maker where he served us traditional Greek salad, homemade wine, and a variety of his goat and sheep cheeses. Great Tour!
