A must when you are in New Orleans!
I live in the French Quarter and anytime company comes we do this experience! I’ve had 4 different chefs and they each bring a different feel, take and outlook on the cooking and history here and their technique. It’s a fun, yummy, educational and great experience! You cannot go wrong with this! Great price too!!

N.O. School of Cooking is the best of the best!
This was my second time at the N.O. School of Cooking. Very informative, so friendly, and the demonstration by Philippe was just wonderful. The food was amazing. I'll be back for another one!

Great morning!
Enjoyed this demonstration class today. Our chef is brand new to the Cooking school but clearly a very experienced chef. Once he gets used to this new gig some of the kinks will be worked out and the class will be a bit better. Still enjoyed it a lot and the food was remarkable and plentiful. We all left very full! Highly recommend this class for the history of what is New Orleans cooking and a chance to taste some food and pick the brain of a foodie local. All of the staff were amazing as well.

Thank you so much! We are excited for him to continue teaching classes!

Fun, food and folklore -- as promised!
I thought I submitted this review long ago but I guess I didn't! Couldn't pass up the opportunity to share the positive experience from our cooking demo in August 2025. The food was delicious and the instructor was fantastic! You can shop in the store before or after the class to pick up items that will give your meals that authentic NOLA flavor. We received the recipes and, if/when you try them at home, send an email to receive an official certificate. We left full and happy!
Operator response
That means a lot that you came back to review us! Thank you!

Fun and Delicious
This is a fun and tasty place! We loved watching the demonstration. Chef Cindy was personable and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the take away recipes so we can try our hand at them once we get home. Come hungry cuz you'll get plenty!

NOLA cooking school
The chef besides being warm, engaging, and knowledgeable about Cajun cooking, was extremely comedic. My 13-year-old grandson loved him, and he even called him up to help him make the pralines.

Not Cajun food and bad kitchen etiquette
Oh my goodness, this was a terrible excursion. The food had no flavor or taste, and the chef stood over the pot, the entire time, talking and coughing. I don’t know how many germs we ate. Yuk!!! One person was so dissatisfied she walked out. The soup was watery, The étouffée was bland and tasted like water, and the bread was inedible, as it was crusty and hard on the outside. The beer was gross!!! I’m So disappointed in this experience. It was definitely not worth the money. If I could give it less than one star I would, but that is not an option!!!
Operator response
We are so sorry that you were disappointed with your experience. We understand that you were not able to enjoy the featured menu Chef prepared that day due to your seafood allergy, and we’re sorry that the alternative dishes were not to your liking.
For guests with seafood allergies or other dietary restrictions, we provide substitute dishes such as Gumbo Z’Herbes and Creole Z’Herbes. While these are very different from the dishes being demonstrated, they are traditional recipes with roots that go back to the early days of Creole cooking in New Orleans.
We certainly never want a guest to leave feeling that their experience was not worth the money, and we appreciate you sharing your feedback. We hope you’ll consider joining us again for a class featuring dishes such as Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, when you would be able to enjoy more of the same menu being prepared and served to the class.
