Sarfy was our guide and driver. Yes...the Monkey Park is a long drive from Tokyo, but it was on a bucket list for Japan and, at the end of the day, a great trip. Sarfy is a great, safe driver who was very accommodating to stops along the way. We went to the park in May. Snow had melted so we could drive in to the parking lot and have an easy walk into the park. Monkeys were still everywhere, and in the spa too. However, I suggest you arrive between noon and 1:00 pm....apparently, the park rangers put out food around noon, so the monkeys swarm the area to forage. By 1:30 p.m., they were scattering back into the depths of the park and leaving the spa. Arrival time could make the difference between a great trip and a failure.
I was picked up an hour and a half away from the usual Nagano and dropped back off early for another appointment. The driver was excellent - in attitude, helpfulness, and English skills. I have a hidden disability, and he even helped me up and down the stairs to the snow monkeys himself!
We saw two out of the six scheduled on our itinerary and then return to the hotel. Hugely disappointing.
Our guide Sarfy was wonderful. We had a fabulous day that exceeded our expectations. The van was clean, Sarfy is a great driver, the sun was shining and we saw so many monkeys at Nagano. This was our first tour of the trip and it will be hard for other guides to do better than today. Thank you Sarfy!
Sherry arrived on time in a very clean and well appointed Lexus. He was friendly and helpful. Willing to stop when ever we wanted and provided timely advice to keep us on track. He even allowed my son to hot spot to his phone for the long drive home. The monkeys were amazing. They walked around us and we could get very close. Super impressed. The temple we went to next was beautiful. Cherry Blossums as well! Thank you Sherry!
We had such a wonderful day with Sarfy! Hands down one of the best travel days we have had. The snow monkeys were wonderful!
Sarfraz was very personable and extremely accommodating to my requirements and requests. He went out of his way to make it an enjoyable day.
We loved our tour with Surfy. The vehicle was spacious and very comfortable and Surfy is a great driver! He happily answered our questions and was very patient waiting for us to finish our lunch. The monkeys were so gentle and super cute. It was incredible to see them so close. We finished off with a stop at Matsumoto Castle where we saw our first cherry blossom. Fantastic day!
Sandra was prompt and knowledgeable. He was very courteous and was concerned about us having a good experience.
Nice visit to the monkey park. Surfy our driver was very safe and professional. Marsumoto Castle is worth visiting and we had some great views of Mt. Fuji on our return to Tokyo from Highway 20.
