Mount Fuji Private Tour With English Speaking Driver

Sarfraz, our driver and tour guide, was excellent throughout our trip. He was very polite, friendly, professional, and always made us feel comfortable. He took us to Mount Fuji and made the whole trip so enjoyable and easygoing. We really appreciated his kindness, patience, and excellent service. He made our day very special and memorable. I am writing this review on behalf of my clients, a family who were first-time visitors to Tokyo. We booked this private Mt. Fuji tour through Viator expecting the "seamless and personalized experience" promised in the listing. Unfortunately, the actual experience was the exact opposite. Prior to the trip, we messaged Takako Tours to request a customized itinerary, swapping a few standard stops for the Gotemba Premium Outlets. They confirmed this was possible but told us to remind the driver. The tour was scheduled for an 8:00 AM start. However, the day before, our driver, Jani, asked to move the departure to 6:00 AM to avoid traffic. While a 6:00 AM start did not work for my clients, they compromised on 7:00 AM. Despite pushing for an earlier time, Jani arrived late at 7:26 AM. At the first stop, Jani dropped the family off at the entrance without any context or instructions. When they tried to enter, they were stopped and asked to pay for admission. My clients had to message me and the driver to verify that tickets were supposed to be included. After I contacted Takako Tours to resolve the issue, Jani returned to pay, explaining he had left to park the car. While parking is understandable, the complete lack of communication beforehand caused unnecessary stress and confusion for first-time visitors. Since I was part of the group chat, I saw Jani share with the a pin in a map letting them know where they are supposed to find him. However, it got me thinking, a private tour experience but the driver who is supposed to be the guide is just letting them go around on their own? What kind of tour is it? The Viator listing explicitly advertised an "English-speaking driver." However, my clients noted that Jani was incredibly difficult to understand, speaking with a heavy non-Japanese accent. The language barrier made communication frustrating, and his tone frequently came across as rude. To make matters worse, the van had a very strong, unpleasant odor—a mix of heavy perfume and body odor—which made the long drive highly uncomfortable. Because of the poor pacing and timing, the family hit severe traffic on the return leg and multiple scheduled stops from the itinerary were completely skipped. Jani offered absolutely no apology for the missed attractions or the logistical hiccups throughout the day. This tour was supposed to be a highlight of their first trip around Tokyo and last stop in Japan, but the driver’s unprofessional behavior, poor communication, and vehicle conditions completely ruined the day. My clients stated they would never book with this company again. Save your money and look elsewhere for a truly professional private tour.

This was an amazing experience. Perfect for families. Pick up was smooth and the drive was beautiful. We had an amazing driver and guide, SARFY. He was knowledgeable and very caring towards the kids. Even though we didn't see Mt Fuji due to the rain, he made sure we got to see the lakes and experience the caves and waterfalls. The kids had an amazing time. The vehicle was comfortable and he was a safe driver. Will come back next time, in better weather to see the "shy mountain".

Excellent experience for bigger family's to go on a tour of Mt Fuji, at their own pace. Our driver was lovely and kept giving tips and information about where ever we went.

We went with the flow and our tourist Johnny made some suggestions. We enjoyed the boat ride in Mount Fuji and shopping. Johnny is very helpful. Much appreciate it.

Jani is a wonderful tour guide and driver. He recommended specific places to go and we have a good time with him! We recommend him to continue this work. He is a lovely person.

Even if the weather is unpredictable, you can have a very good day around Mt. Fuji. There are quite a few things to do.

Mt Fuji has its own weather system - Yani was able to coordinate so that we got a fairly clear view of the summit from the lakeshore park. He was also very knowledgeable and flexible as took us to some spots we suggested. Plus he is a safe driver which is a must! thanks Yani

We had an amazing experience touring around Mount Fuji area though it was a last minute booking, thanks to our tour guide, Serfy!!!! He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about sharing the history and culture of the area. He made us feel welcome, answered every question with enthusiasm, and kept the tour fun and engaging from start to finish. The van was comfortable, spacious and with reclining chairs. His van was equipped with phone chargers 🔌 which was very convenient. He’s got sense of humor too! His recommendations for local tourist destinations and hidden gems were excellent and made our trip even more memorable. He surprised us by showing an amazing cascade of water falls around Mount Fuji which was not expected and made us appreciate how beautiful Japan really is! We truly appreciated his professionalism, patience, and attention to detail. If you’re looking for an unforgettable tour, I highly recommend this guide! His name is Serfy and speaks fluent English.
