Few people know the souls of things, and even fewer can make these souls perceptible and tangible to others. Maurice can. If you also desire to belong to this chosen group, you must come to Maurice. “à Maurice”, from Maurice de Mauriac, is a meeting place for people who want to feel and experience the soul of mechanical watches.
You’ll disassemble a Unitas pocket movement – the device that powers a manual watch – and then reassemble it under the watchful eye of a private watchmaker.

Watchmaking FUN
My husband and I had a great experience at Maurice de Mauriac. We learned a lot about hoe watches were made as well as the history of the company. The price for the watching making class is 250 CHD per person, but if you buy a watch that amount is deducted from the price. The discussion and watch making session took about 2 hours. It is a family run company and the owners were there. They made you feel very welcome and treated you like family. It's a small shop, but it's where the watches are actually made. There were no crowds, we took the class privately. The atmosphere was very casual and friendly. This is best suited for teenagers and older. We watched while Jannick took a watch apart and explained the pieces to us. We then put the watch back together (with his help haha). After the "class" we went to lunch and came back and purchased a watch. You can take a class in which you make your own watch, but since we didn't think we would purchase one we didn't do that. But in the end the watches are very special and I decided to get one. Since they needed to put it together, Massimo, one of the owners delivered it to our hotel the next morning because we were leaving to go to St. Moritz. They truly treated us like family.

Timeless Watchmaking Experience
Any visit to Switzerland brings to mind horology. A hands on experience best way to immerse yourself in watchmaking. From the tour of the atelier to to the history and theory of watch assembly to the hands on experience of putting a mechanical mechanism back together into a working watch was quite fulfilling.
Masha was quite communicative and helpful - from initial inquiry, selection of watch, and finally matching straps.
The class was awesome. To leave with a watch for which I chose the options (face, complications, etc.) but best of all assisted in its final assembly was tremendously rewarding!

Outstanding experience
I had an outstanding experience at Maurice de Mauriac in Zurich, where I purchased two watches. Massimo and Leonard dedicated their time to guiding me through numerous color and technical combinations, helping me create watches that perfectly matched our preferences. The watches were ready the very next day, along with a thorough introduction to their operation and proper care. An exceptional, highly personalized experience from start to finish—I wholeheartedly recommend Maurice de Mauriac to anyone looking for truly one-of-a-kind timepieces and outstanding service.

Fun visit with my son!
Excellent experience if you like watches or are just curious. My son and I are both engineers and asked many questions. The watchmaker was very knowledgeable and answered them patiently.
Great to learn about watches!
NOTE: the business has moved to Ramistrasse 5 which is about 15 minutes walk from their original location.

great time!
This was a great experience for my son and I. We really enjoyed it! The watchmaker was engaging, entertaining, and patient with all of my questions. It was really cool to use the monocle / jewelers loop to see the tiny watch components. I highly recommend this tour!

One-time consultation, cool team and very nice watches.
The business is uniquely cool. The advice outstanding and also the conversation very exciting and enriching. The selection of watches and accessories as well as the individual composition of your own watch are simply unique. In Züri, from Züri for Züri. Where else is that? We will come back. L1 bought and very happy with it.

Fascinating, FUN, iconic. A stand-out trip highlight.
No list of iconic Swiss excellence omits watches, chocolate, and cheese.
This workshop is a fascinating demonstration and explanation of how a watch works. Our watchmaker told us about each piece as she disassembled a watch before our very eyes - its purpose and how it works. Then it was our turn to put it back together again (!). For real! But fun because our watchmaker was overseeing and guiding and sharing tricks and expert tips.
I was delighted that most of the time was spent hands-on. Still, I must mention that upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Leo, one of the brothers of the MDM family. He made us feel totally at home. He started with a brief overview of the family business his father started, and the industry in general. We asked loads of questions, and enjoyed the conversation very much.
Plus, I before we booked this activity, we looked online at the watches they make, and we think they are fantastic! (They look even better in person.)
Do not miss this!

Fascinating. Super hands-on. Great time!
Fascinating explanation of how a watch works. Arlene, our watchmaker, told us about each piece as she disassembled a watch. Then it was our turn to put it back together (!) - with her supervision and expert tips. I was delighted that most of the time was dedicated to our hands-on experience.
