London Theatre: Sinatra The Musical

What a disappointment! The show lacks charm, the songs sometimes don’t match what’s going on, the cast lacks charisma and chemistry (except Frank’s parents), the lead singer doesn't sound anything like Sinatra. Don’t waste your time. Go see My Neighbour Totoro instead fir a great theater experience!!!

I wouldn't put it in the category of a westend show, I would rate it more like an up market private school performance. A lot of the set was frequently used, like the sofa and bed. The storyline was uninspiring, slow and I'm sure Frank would be very disappointed in the portrayal of his life. I'm sure he did more than just cheat on women.

As a group we were all looking forward to seeing the show, unfortunately it was a let down. The show was slow and boring. The women singing Sinatra songs was confusing and just seemed to be thrown in to pad it out. There was not enough of Sinatra singing his well known hits. The theatre itself was absolutely freezing cold, and the seats very uncomfortable. The show was halted during the second half temporarily due to something going wrong with the scenery, many of the audience just left. The best bit by far was the orchestra, yet they were hidden away most of the time. They should have been on stage throughout. Not a great show. Not worth the money.

I thought the show was amazing goo story well acted funny in right moments and good old sing song at the end great day out

A lot of scenes consisting of sofas and beds being pushed on from stage left/right. Singing was ok. Best part was the big band swing numbers at the end but sadly it was just boring. The 5 people next to us didn't come back after the interval so we spread out a bit! The air con made me feel chilly as it was a cold and wet day. If you have a list of musicals you want to see, put this at the bottom and hopefully it will have finished by the time you get to it. You're welcome !!

A real disappointment. Actresses playing Ava Gardner and Nancy Sinatra were very shrill and Sinatra himself wasn't great, but thankfully improved as the night went on. The best bit for us was the Big Band finale which people missed out on owing to their early departure. Some of the audience left during the interval and we didn't understand why the female cast were singing Sinatra's songs . Sinatra's father was probably the best singer of the cast, but we were hoping for big band numbers, a classic 'crooning style' instead of bad language, nudity and poor acting.

Very disappointing. The story lacked depth, the acting felt matter-of-fact, and there was little stage presence. Several people in the row behind me left at the interval, which says a lot: the production simply didn’t have that compelling “grab you” factor. It needs significant improvement. The show’s name alone may help it survive in the West End, but it is one of the poorest productions I’ve seen in a long while.

On the whole, I enjoyed the show, mainly because Sinatra was my dad's idol and I knew all the songs! The actor portraying Sinatra was a bit inconsistent. Sometimes nailing a song, other times not so much. Jenna Russell, as his mother Dolly, was fantastic! Brilliant performance. Sinatra's wife and Ava Gardener both shrieked their way though their songs which was the only major criticism. Female singers in that era did not scream as loud as possible, as per Maria Carey. I felt it detracted from the story and was unnecessary.

Being brutally honest here both me and my husband found this boring & before the interval could quite easily have fallen asleep. Singing dancing & acting all great but just felt it was slow. A couple of ladies sitting near us felt the same way as well. Didn't belt out all the great numbers like i thought they would. So left feeling disappointed. Was also quite hot in there which didn’t help me when feeling sleepy too!!

Frank Sinatra deserved better and, sadly, so did the audience. I expected much more focus on his extraordinary career and iconic music, rather than so much emphasis on his family life and divorces; the songs felt repetitive, with surprisingly few of his greatest hits, and for such a prestigious West End stage, I honestly expected far more energy and impact.
