Lisbon Shore Excursion Private Small Group

We had a wonderful time with Elizabete. It was really nice to go from place to place in an air conditioned vehicle, especially given the heat wave while we were there. We did get out and walk with her in places where we couldn't take the vehicle, like the neighborhoods with the really narrow roads. We got to see all the great views, interesting neighborhoods and then we got to eat those delicious pastries in Belem, at the originating bakery. I'd had some at a couple of other places, but they were nothing like the originals. Then the evening sailing was the perfect end to our trip in Lisbon. The cool wind off the water, the entertaining boat staff who did everything to ensure we had an enjoyable evening. Just about perfect. Thank you! Derice

We spent a beautiful day touring the coast with Alex. Our group of 4 was comfortable in the van. Alex was attentive to our interests, food preferences, and pace. He provided a top notch recommendation for lunch (on our own). Alex’s passion for the history and the culture of modern Portugal is evident throughout every encounter. We spent 4 days in total with Alex and would do it again! Highly recommend!!!!

Back in January I saw a number of recommendations for private tour guides on this page. We hired Alex and today we arrived in Lisbon on cruise. I wanted to make sure he could work with us while in port for 10 hours. He was great and super easy to communicate with. Alex was such a friendly, funny, knowledgeable guide. I asked for a food and history tour and then I deferred everything to him. We were not disappointed in the sights covered, the food we ate, or the conversations. I am so grateful for his time. He made the 6 hours fly by! And we appreciated having a tour by private van--he maneuvered the traffic and streets expertly! Despite him covering the highlights, he also was flexible when we had requests (like wanting to go to the Pasteis de Belem). I am writing this two days after our tour and the four of us from the. Us are still talking about how great Alex was. If you are looking for a private guide, I don't think you will be disappointed with Alex. This tour cost about the same as a ship excursion but far exceeds that kind of experience.

We first toured with Alex three years ago and had such a great experience that we knew we wanted to return, and we’re so glad we did. Booking the tour was simple and straightforward, with quick and helpful responses throughout the process. This time, we had the pleasure of touring with Elisabete for the first time as Alex was unavailable, and she was fantastic. Elizabete is easygoing, accommodating, and made us feel completely at ease from the start. Elisabete’s knowledge of Sintra is especially impressive, as she lives there and truly understands the area’s history and charm. She came prepared with a thoughtful plan for the day but was also very flexible and happy to customize the experience based on our interests. We never felt rushed although we saw quite a bit and took our time at the various locations. Our visit to Pena Palace, Cascais and Roca was seamless, informative, and enjoyable from beginning to end. We would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a personalized and memorable experience.

We spent 3 days with Alex as our guide from Coimbra to Melides, Évora, and Lisbon—and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Alex was the perfect combination of professional, personable, and incredibly knowledgeable. He was always on time and efficient, yet never made us feel rushed. As a safe and confident driver, we felt completely at ease navigating the varied terrains of Portugal. Along the way, Alex shared rich historical and cultural insights, tailored to our interests, making every stop even more meaningful. He also struck the perfect balance between guiding and giving us space—allowing us time to explore on our own while always being nearby and ready when we needed him. His restaurant recommendations were spot on, introducing us to some of the best food we had on our entire trip. Alex is truly a gem. We began the trip with him as our guide but ended it with him as our friend. We wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a seamless and memorable journey through Portugal.

Our driver showed up late and tried to say she had been there all along (she wasn’t). Then she asked where our luggage was as she thought we were going to a hotel afterwards even though she picked us up from the cruise terminal! Poor start to the tour. She was OK on the tour but didn’t allow much time to browse and shop. Overall, I would not recommend it.

Wonderful tour with Elizabete. Our family of 4 enjoyed the personalized tour which was educational and entertaining. Loved the pick and drop off at hotel and the tour itself of Sintra and the castles!

Alex was amazing, he's super nice. Knows a lot is extremely learned and that conveyed in the explanation of the city. I highly recommend the service, you will not regret it, besides it is very good person !!! Very exclusive, I felt top and very safe.

We tried to tour with Alex when we were here in December on the recommendation of a friend, but he was booked. We are so glad we got to tour with him on this return trip. He met us right on time and drove us to the Pena Palace in Sintra. He had everything prearranged, and we were in the first group through the palace. His knowledge of his subject was outstanding, and his delivery was fun but informative. We spent almost two and a half hours at the palace, and then he dropped us in the village for some shopping and photo time before picking us up again to take us to lunch in Cascais at a local restaurant that served basically the best chicken I have ever eaten and french fries. What more could you want? We were obviously the only non-locals there, and Alex made us promise not to name the place. He said if you're going to find it, you will have to tour with him. Suffice it to say that we would all do this tour again just for that lunch. After lunch, we were off to The End of the World (where Europeans originally thought the world ended or you fell off the edge), a beautiful place. Go tour with Alex. You will have a great day!
