I really cannot recommend this tour enough. Ikuro was an incredible tour guide who was focused on answering all of our questions. I spent the first few days in Kyoto looking at the temples and shrines, but nothing compared to all of the added context I was able to get from this tour. I really cannot recommend it enough.
Ikura was a wonderful tour guide. He took us all throughout Gion and Kiyomizu-dera. He took the time to explain every single location to us carefully so that we understood the history and importance. He was so sweet and even stopped to buy us a cucumber at one point and a good luck fortune. We would definitely recommend this tour!
Great morning tour. The guide was funny and informative. Our four teens really enjoyed it! The early hours beat the heat!
Ikuro was the perfect guide. He was kind and knowledgeable. Told us the history behind many landmarks. Told us about Japanese customs. He engaged in conversations with us and was interested in our history. He took the time to come into some shops with us and have a matcha drink. The 7:15am start seemed early but it was perfect to see the sights before the crowds got out.
This is definately is worth the early trip. We would recommend. Guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Had such a great time with Caleb, talking Kyoto history and learning what it's like to live here from someone who has both an American and Japanese perspective. Hearing more about performing arts from someone learning a Japanese traditional instrument was a special treat in the Geisha district. Caleb knew all of the great photo spots. We wrapped up our 715 tour just as it started to get busy. Can't recommend this tour highly enough.
This was an excellent tour. Our guide was helpful and informative- and took us to places we wouldn't have known about on our own. It was great being in a small group - just us and another couple. Starting early in the morning was good - it become more crowded as the tour went on (this was cherry blossom season). Highly recommended.
Walking through Kyoto with Tammy has become one of the most vivid memories of Japan for us. We had a great time, got acquainted with the rich culture and history of this beautiful city, enjoyed the magnificent nature and learned a lot of new things. Tammy was happy to answer all our questions, was very friendly and punctual. I will definitely recommend this tour to my friends who are going to Japan, and I hope that in the future I will be able to join the walk with Tammy again, but on a different route.
Had a wonderful early morning tour of Gion with Ikuro-san. He was very knowledgeable of the history of the spots we went to and expertly navigated the routes. The early morning start meant much less crowd, hence making our tour less stressful. We also had time for a coffee break after visiting Kiyomizu-dera. Thank you, Ikuro-san, for making my trip to Kyoto a memorable experience!
We did the 6:30am walking tour with Tammy and had a great experience. Getting up that early was definitely the right choice. Tammy was very knowledgeable and helpful, providing us local recommendations. Great experience overall!
